Team DeSantis celebrates the end of Pride Month with zinger aimed at Trump

Governor Ron DeSantis’ campaign team released a wild culture war ad on Friday taking aim at former President Trump as Pride Month ends, using clips from “American Psycho” and “The Wolf of Wall Street” to hammer home the Florida firebrand’s leadership on issues.

“To wrap up ‘Pride Month,’ let’s hear from the politician who did more than any other Republican to celebrate it…” the DeSantis War Room tweeted with a compilation of clips showing Trump’s ties to the LGBTQ and transgender community.

The video begins with a 2016 clip of Trump telling the Republican National Convention, “I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens,” utilizing a rainbow pride flag superimposed over his image. It then showcases a number of clips of Trump with transgender Caitlyn Jenner, who is also a Republican. Then a graphic shows DeSantis with lightning bolts shooting out of his eyes next to the word “NO.”

Ads by The ad is sure to offend Trump supporters and it enraged leftist media outlets as well such as Mediaite which branded it as “bizarre” and “unhinged.” But the ad will no doubt appeal to certain demographics which was the point. It is also intended to show that DeSantis will protect children no matter what and that he stands strongly against elements of the transgender movement.

The ad touts the headline, “DeSantis Signs ‘Most Extreme Slate of Anti-Trans Laws in Modern History,’” as energetic music plays in the background and images of DeSantis stream.

According to Mediate, the ad also uses clips of necrophiliac-serial killer-rapist Patrick Bateman from “American Psycho,” British gangster Tommy Shelby from “Peaky Blinders,” and convicted fraudster Jordan Belfort from “Wolf of Wall Street” in what appears to make the point that DeSantis will fight evil.

A stylized graphic toward the end of the ad shows DeSantis depicted as an alligator with reptile eyes and spiky teeth, again in an effort to show his strength. Images of Spartans are also interspersed in the ad and, finally in another play off of “Wolf of Wall Street,” the ad declares that a real wolf has finally arrived.

Trump supporters and leftists viciously attacked the ad online.

A conservative Florida LGBTQ group called the Log Cabin Republicans took issue with the ad.

“Today’s message from the DeSantis campaign War Room is divisive and desperate. Republicans and other commonsense conservatives know Ron Desantis has alienated swing-state and younger voters,” the group wrote on Friday.

“Conservatives understand that we need to protect our kids, preserve women’s sports, safeguard women’s spaces and strengthen parental rights, but Ron DeSantis’ extreme rhetoric goes has just ventured into homophobic territory.”

“Desantis’ rhetoric will lose hard-fought gains in critical races across the nation. This old playbook has been tried in the past and has failed – repeatedly,” the group proclaimed. “Left-wing gays have tried to hijack the equality movement by pushing their radical sex and gender policies on children while slandering anyone who disagrees with them.”

“Ron DeSantis and his team can’t tell the difference between commonsense gays and the radical Left gays. He, sadly, sees them all the same. His naive policy positions are dangerous and politically stupid,” they charged.

Charles T. Moran, the national president of Log Cabin Republicans, also condemned DeSantis in his own post.

“You could have gone after radical queers, @RonDeSantis – but instead you went after the ones who win the @GOP votes and get Republicans elected. People like me,” he wrote. “Wrong fight to pick, bud.”

Do you really think DeSantis will get better treatment from Dems/MSM than Trump? DeSantis like Trump will lose to the Dem/MSM election fraud machine.

Do you really think Trump lost the 2020 election?

Trump received 11 million more votes in 2020 and according to the Dems/MSM “lost.” Never has a sitting President lost when receiving more votes in his reelection bid. Trump increased his vote total by almost 17+%. Trump can claim victory to 17 of the 18 bellwether counties and still “lost” according to the Dems/MSM.

Do you really believe that Bumbling Biden received 15 million more votes than Hillary? That is an amazing and unbelievable 23% increase in votes for Bumbling Biden than Hillary. The election was stolen.

DeSantis like Trump will lose to the Dem/MSM election fraud machine. So, pissing on Trump makes no sense.

Pres Trump spent money?

Hmmmm….I was under the impression that the a House of Representatives generates all the budget bills, House and Senate come to an agreement and then they present it to the President for some more debate.

Only, Congress has t done that since 2008 or so. They learned with bush that they can wait until the last second to get whatever they want.

Pres Trump asked for budgets every year he was there and congress ignored him. Even during his first 2 years with McConnell and Ryan

“Because Trump lost. “

I don’t think he did. He just wasn’t “selected”.

Trump had 50,000 people showing up at his rallies, Biden maybe 50. And Biden is who Americans wanted???? Fat chance

If we don’t fight to end election fraud we are hosed.

I think this messaging is very bad. So Trump wants them to be safe in the country. Is thag a scandal? The context is probably a mass shooting at a queer bar. Would Desanctimonius go into the region the next day and spike the football and say gays arent welcome in America? What a fool. Does he also try to tie Jesus to harlots because Jesus kept company with them? The message right now is, keep your sexual devience away from hour children. Reminds me of a specific sect in Jesus’ day...shouldn’t surprise us. Mr 8th day is more righteous than Jesus, or so he’d have you believe.

[Ron, you’re making a mistake.]

I’m like Trump in my leanings. He’s libertine. I’m libertarian, but completely fine with whatever social conservative compromises are necessary to keep authoritarian Democrats from power.

The GOP base, however, is firmly anti-pervert (not my term - theirs). Trump’s tolerance and, indeed, words of encouragement for perverts may not fly with the GOP base. DeSantis reminding them that Trump’s beliefs share more with Democrat decadence than traditional right-wing continence could start moving the needle in the gpvernor’s direction.

Wouldn’t that be up to DeSantis to define? He’s the one throwing shade on Pres Trump saying they would be protected.

What is DeSantis talking about?

>> What “constitutional rights” does Ron DeSantis want to deny them?

You’re conflating two separate points. Of the three points I posted, the 2nd concerns the Constitutionally benign aspect of Trump’s pandering. The 3rd points to DeSantis’ attack on Trump’s pandering.

Being kind & promising them the same protections as any other citizen receives, is exactly what a president should say, promise & do. For he is the president of all American citizens

It doesn't mean, or imply, that they will get special treatment whatsoever.

I'd say this is a major fail on the part of team DeSantis, and I think his support numbers will continue trending southward as they have been. Perhaps even accelerating in speed, maybe?

In all honesty, the GOPe is now considering supporting Younkin, because Younkin's intelligence quotient far exceeds that of DeSantis.

“Ron, you’re making a mistake.”

If his job is to make sure Trump loses, then he’s doing what’s necessary, even those he’s committing political suicide at the same time.

If his job is to try to win, then I agree with you, as he DESPERATELY will need Trump voters if he wants to win in November.

All that seemed to be fine when Meatball needed Trump to become Governor. Ron wasn’t bothered by gays back then I guess or he would have never went to Trump for support. I am sure gays voted for Ron.

You see, this is proof that Ron is not a very sincere guy and goes which way the wind blows if it serves his need.

DeSantis is saying to voters that Trump is the candidate from Sodom and Gomorrah. Whether this takes - who knows? But in a GOP primary where other candidates are basically owned by big donors who are Sodom and Gomorrah-tolerant, this is a chance for him to stand out. His problem is that this could lead to fund-raising issues in relation to big donors.
