Two different guns may have been used in the December 8, 1980 shooting of music icon John Lennon, RadarOnline.com has learned.
According to British author and TV producer David Whelan, two different types of bullets were removed from Lennon's body during the autopsy. One was marked as a Semi-wadcutter or hollow-point bullet, while the other was listed as a 38-caliber lead bullet.
Whelan believes that the different bullet types add weight to his theory that a second shooter was involved in the killing.
The author has spent three years investigating the murder and has highlighted several inconsistencies in the official narrative, including the suggestion that police may have misunderstood how the shooting occurred.
Whelan's investigation has also revealed a 'hit list' compiled by convicted gunman Mark Chapman, including the former Beatle, Godfather actor Marlon Brando, and former First Lady Jackie Kennedy.
The prosecution's accepted version of events was that Chapman shot at Lennon five times, with four of the bullets hitting the singer in the back. However, Whelan's witnesses have suggested that the shooting may have been recorded incorrectly and that the fatal shots were actually fired into Lennon's chest.

Chapman was a dumbass, probably got whatever ammo he could find.
December 8, 1980. That would have been a good time to do a proper investigation.

I always trust the Brits for gun information. A .38 Special revolver can fire a variety of bullet types, including semi-wadcutters, jacketed hollow points (no, they are not the same thing), and “lead” bullets.
I’m assuming the NYPD noted the brass left in the gun, and searched Chapman’s home for his ammo. They would have noted if there were discrepancies. He could very well just have had a mixed load in his cylinder, especially if he was scrounging given NYC’s gun laws.
Semi wadcutters are not hollow point bullets and those of that era were typically lead, although there are some that are copper plated lead.

I don’t understand. It’s not a big deal to load different types of ammo into a revolver.
There were pamphlets circulating around NYC at the time claiming the CIA wanted Lennon out of the picture. He was having a career renaissance and they didn’t want his peacenik ways interfering.
Not saying I agree, just reporting what I remember.
