We gave them our language, too - but they misuse it.

One cannot toil land. Perhaps they mean "tilled?!"

The great bluesman Buddy Guy recalled in his autobiography having to guide a plow while holding the reins in a wagon drawn by a mule when he was young. The hot Louisiana sun beat down on him on the sharecropper parents’ farm and he said there is no more nauseating smell than a mule passing gas and dropping wet crap ahead of you. That would be toil.
