As a Floridian, I’m not seeing any dereliction of duty by the governor, but I might’ve missed something. Perhaps you could supply some examples to back up your claims?

Didn't Floridians elect De Santis to be a full-time governor? Over the next year, he will be traveling all around the country campaigning and raising money rather than attending to the affairs of his state. That was a major reason that California voters rejected Richard Nixon when he ran for governor. Many figured that he would use the state house as a stepping stone to the White House.

What century is this again? No cell phones and internet back then so a bit more of a challenge to govern when out and about. Is that it? He’s not sitting at his desk all day waiting for a hurricane? He was signing legislation when he was overseas. It didn’t wait for him to return. Didn’t Trump hold rallies instead of sitting at his desk? I don’t recall anyone complaining about his absence from the Oval Office back then.

Look what happened to Palin. She never got her mojo back. She should have been cagey enough as RDS to get a clause put in that stated she could stay as governor even if she failed as a vP candidate.
