The Georgia Supreme Court on Monday unanimously dismissed a longshot bid by former President Donald Trump to disqualify quash the special grand jury report that recommended criminal charges in the Fulton County district attorney’s probe of Georgia’s 2020 election.
The state Supreme Court also rejected Trump’s request that it bar Fulton DA Fani Willis from continuing to oversee the criminal investigation.
The ruling came weeks before Willis is expected to seek indictments in the probe of efforts by Trump and his allies to overturn President Joe Biden’s 2020 electoral victory over him in the Peach State.

The second argument, that the special grand jury is unfair and therefore any subsequent indictment should be dismissed and the evidence should be suppressed in a subsequent trial, was also rejected by the Supreme Court. The Court then went onto explain in very simple terms what a grand jury is, how it differs from a trial jury and how it relates to the Constitution.
“A grand jury is not a trier of fact; why should it be admitted as fact in another case?”
Good point. The Grand Jury only hears the evidence that the prosecutor wants them to hear or see.
So this embarrassing 0-8 result is the fault Trump not hiring good attorneys? What’s it mean for the upcoming charges and trial? Can he eventually appeal for incompetent representation?
I’ve been in that Grand Jury room before.
When I was in there, the people seated didn’t have any idea what the case was about until the ADA started talking about the case and I gave my testimony. The GJ only hears one side of the case, mine. And it’s the first time they hear about any of the facts unless the case makes the news.
But, rarely do they ever get to hear specifics, as they would in a murder case, for example.
With the way they’ve been putting this case and pending GJ all over the news, there’s no way they’re getting an unbiased GJ, one way or another. And I’m sure that Fani did her best to pick from registered Democrats.
It’s going to be interesting when the DA submits her copy of the phone call which, apparently, has been proven to have been selectively edited and when the defense gets to submit their copy and put Fuchs on the stand. I wonder how she’ll fare under some scrutiny. I’m pretty sure most of the people involved in all of these charades have been told that there’s nothing to worry about, that it won’t get that far. They got him.
And while I’m fairly versed with the Georgia Criminal Code, Title 16, I know nothing of whatever code they’re trying to pin this case to.
Kind of hard to believe there was any ‘election interference’, whatever that is, after the election and votes were counted and nothing in Georgia changed nor did Kemp, Raffensberger, Carr, Ralston, Miller do anything to interfere at the request of the President.
The Writs should have not have been filed in the Supreme Court. Normally, the filing of a fugitive document is swatted down with a single sentence. Here, the Court went to great lengths to explain their decision in terms which basically said “hey, dumb a$$es, stop being stupid.”
As for assigning fault in filing these fugitive writs, it is ultimately attorneys’ fault. They should know the law and control their client.
The Writs that were filed do not rise to the level of ineffective assistance of counsel.
