Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has cautioned that it would be a mistake for GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump to skip the party’s primary debates.
“I think he should be on the stage. I want everybody on the stage that qualifies, obviously,” she told Fox News Wednesday.
“It’s a mistake not to do the debates, but that’s going to be up to him and his campaign.”
McDaniel cited two main reasons why she feels it’s in Trump’s best interest to jump into the upcoming verbal slugfest despite holding a massive polling lead over his rivals.
“One, short-term, you want to win the nomination, you got to get in front of the whole primary voters,” she said.
“For me, [there’s] another part of it, which is if you end up getting the nomination — for any of these candidates — this is an audience of 20 million people-plus. Why wouldn’t we get in front of them before we go against Joe Biden?”
Trump has long been noncommittal about attending the first debate, which is scheduled for Aug. 23 in Milwaukee.

So all of a sudden Trump should start taking political advice from the RNC?
They only want him there for ratings and gotchas.
Reform the “debates” and eliminate moderators who always get in the way and ask stupid questions and perhaps Trump would participate.
Poll the top 5 issues, let everyone talk about the issue for 2 minutes and their take on the issue. After everyone is done, everyone gets 1 minute for any clarification or additions to their statement. Timekeepers only, cut the mic when time expires.

In before the ad hominem attacks on Ronna McDaniel (Romney)
Yes, I think we see ad hominem attacks sometimes. It does seem contradictory, in that, many people on Free Republic are critical of her, yet Trump endorsed her for the job.
So what are we supposed to think about such a situation?
If I recall correctly, she was reelected to the job by an overwhelming majority. So there’s that, that she has strong support in the Republican Party, regardless of what Trump’s support.

2 minutes gives nothing but sound bite, consultant doublespeak.
We never came close to ejecting her. She was dead last on the list of candidates when the base asked. The GOPe totally ignored the results. They knew she was the last person we wanted and that meant nothing.
I think the timeframe of his endorsing her was aligned with Senate trial for impeachment. Had to ensure GOP senators did not abandon.
He would dominate the debate stage and suck up all of the oxygen, causing all of the other opponents to have to share not even half the time. Not seeing any reason not to do it.
The last time he skipped a debate and planned a counter event, it did not work out well for him. He went from leading to losing the Iowa Caucuses. Rubio had the momentum (essentially the “winner” as he did “better than expected”)...then of course Rubio self destructed at the NH debate blunting and negating all of that momentum, re-splitting the opposition to Trump among multiple opponents.
If he does participate in the debates, any person who attacks him on the bogus criminal charges should have their political career ended instantaneously. Anybody who does that is with “them”, not us.
If Trump no shows at the debates, nobody is going to pay any attention to them.
Trump has nothing to win and everything to lose by showing up to get ambushed by never Trump candidates and biased, hostile debate moderators out to assassinate Trump.
If Biden doesn’t plan to debate , why should Trump ? It’s his call. Let the peons squabble amongst themselves . They alone are sufficient to convince the people they shouldn’t waste their precious votes on any of them.
