I had a subscription to Car & Driver for a long time, but dropped it because of snarky leftist political comments in the articles. That idiot with the big white dog was the worst, can’t remember his name.

It was a good magazine once.

Why would you want to make it slower?

No English speaker would ever say, “ . . . it was his favorite car that he had ever driven. “

A robo-monkey might.

The AI coders Kumar and Hang Lo may talk like that.

Yup, me too. Then they kept trying to send C&D and R&T for FREE after I cancelled.

I emailed making it clear I don’t want either (same company) in my house nor want any further digital commumications.

It goes up the way an alcoholic feels no pain until the crash.

Most drunk drivers don’t get seriously hurt because they just bounce around in the crash. It’s the sober victims that get hurt.

/source, my grandfather drove through a telephone pole on more than one occasion and suffered absolutely nothing, not even a bruise either time.

I meant withdrawal crash, not an automobile accident.

I just never understood spending that much money on a car.
It gets you from A to B, regardless of how much you pay for it.

You sound like my wife. My truck is 23 years old and is becoming a rust bucket. I've got duct tape on the roof covering rust holes, a couple cracks in the windshield from rocks hitting it, and rust on the rear bumper.

I was thinking of selling it and getting a new truck. She says no, we'll keep driving it until it completely falls apart, as long as it gets us from A to B and hauls stuff. I can see her point, what with new trucks costing 3 to 4 times what we paid for our old truck when new.

It’s too bad Rivian doesn’t make their truck with a gas engine. They’re cool looking and nicely sized. But EVs are Stoopid.

The third generation Tacomas are suffering a bit from the technology overload car companies are piling on vehicles. I just got a 2013 second generation with 100 K on it. It’s my forever truck. Even with the 4.0 Liter, driven easily I get 23+ mpg.

I don’t plan on ever living where EVs, at their current technological revision, are practical.

Chances are that old EVs with battery packs needing replacement will be available cheap in the future, and at the rate things are going, I don’t expect all the manufacturers to still be in business to support restoring them back to original function.

Maybe that revolution in batteries we’ve been hearing about for the last 40 years will happen in the meantime and that will change the calculus.
