Yes, and some retired early. I don’t know about rehiring the personnel let go.

There is no such thing as a labor shortage, there are only wage shortages.

When an illegal walks across the border, how long does it take to get them certified to fly commercial jets? Should just be a rubber stamp on a piece of paper, right?

There have been a few losses already, but they just weren’t attributed to diversity.

“Maybe now they’ll ditch the DEI nonsense.”

If things proceed as normal they will double down on it. They believe their policies only fail if there isn’t enough money spent on them.

Yes, that is exactly what happened. There have been a number that can’t get medical clearance because of heart issues.

Those who owe the cartels for getting them here just found work thanks to Biden and party.

What could possibly go wrong.

Offer fewer flights. Less flights, more staff to go around. Sheesh! 🛫✈🛬

Staff shortages as many did not want to take a dangerous vaccine.

Frankly, YES.

Pilots and air traffic controllers were the first people required to get the Covid Vax. Many chose to retire early than take the vaccine. Secondly, many that chose to take the vax started having heart problems. So, they then had to retire.
Lastly, there are not as many ex military pilots as there used to be.

FYI, many of those pilots that chose to retire early are still flying. They just are not flying for the airlines. There are many jobs available to fly corporate and rich people around.

True. Almost all I know were prior military as well.
I like going to foreign countries, but I’ll see how that goes moving forward.
No vax requirements only.
I still have some European places I would like to go to.

I have not flown since 9-11/TSA. I hated flying before that (had to for work on occasion) so giving up flying was a relief, not a sacrifice.

There is no such thing as a labor shortage, there are only wage shortages.

Some are some caveats. There are some types of labor that only a select few can actually do. There is a limit to available talent at any price.

Also, wages are short term whereas some careers such as commercial pilot have a narrow path with knowledge and skills that don't transfer to other industries. It's not just a wage shortage, it's also career risks or the lack of a viable career progression. The current pay may be okay but the future might be in serious doubt.

Once the airlines mandated the Jim Jones Jab, forcing pilots to choose between risking their health or losing their income with no options to transfer into other careers with those skills, many potential pilots have no desire to start down a very narrow career path where an employer could again force them into the same decision. That's not a wage shortage, that's a shortage of suckers.

Correct, the FAA has run out of straight White men.

I thought about becoming an ATC back in in 2003.
I visited an en Route center in Hilliard FL.
Every man had a gut and took numerous smoke breaks.
That was that.
I was USAF at the time and qualified for PJ Indoc.
Unhealthy wasn’t my scene…

Not to worry most airlines are adopting the DEI program so a dumba## of the right color will be piloting you to your death
