Putin searches for more friends at Africa summit but low turnout dampens bid for influence

Russian pomp and circumstance greeted 17 leaders of African countries who arrived in St. Petersburg earlier this week. Some delegations were welcomed with a military orchestra, and Zimbabwe’s president received a helicopter as a gift from President Vladimir Putin.

Putin billed Russia’s second summit with African leaders and delegates as “a crucial event” to boost ties and partnership for many years to come. For Russia, the event was a battle for influence and allies, and showed how isolated Russia could become in the shadow of its invasion of Ukraine.

“We see the same, reciprocal interest to act together, hand in hand, on the part of our African friends,” Putin said.

But when Putin and delegation leaders stood side by side for the family photo, there were notable absences. Only 17 heads of state were in attendance, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, down sharply from the 43 who participated in the first Russia-Africa summit in Sochi in 2019.

So I guess cutting off food from African nations and threatening to starve them into an alliance didn't work out so well for Putin.

So look at these photos and tell me what's wrong with them...

Sorry, Vlad, but China already bought them. You can have their leftovers.

Don’t get too excited about this, Cotton. It’s not because the Africans love globohomo wars in Ukraine, but because the Chinese are already sucking up all the action in that continent.

Too bad America has a corrupt dementia patient as its leader. He stumbles and mumbles around pushing the trans agenda on other countries. Who needs friends like that? One thing about Putin that I believe is that he is pro Russia. The west has leaders who are actively trying to destroy their countries. They are all pathetic weasels. There are only a few exceptions.

Psyop planted in media strikes again….another Western effort to discredit this event.

17 heads of state, plus Another 32 African nations sent high level reps. Think Lavrov level.

So 49 attended the Summit. Enough to strike up some pretty impressive deals for debt forgiveness, free grain, and security assistance.

There was no low turnout. This is a lie. Virtually every African nation attended, although some sent their #2 or #3.

#2s and #3's, eh, to meet head-of-state Putin?

That's rather insulting.

Ukr supporters post MSM BS & lies, this being one of millions of examples. 49 African nations attended and most of them are pivoting away from US/EU/GloboHomo.
