A TikTok video showing a massive queue of people waiting to attend a McDonald’s job fair has gone viral, highlighting the difficulty of finding work.
The video, posted by user cshibz on July 28, shows a long line of people stretching down the street outside the St. Louis Adult Learning & Continuing Education Centre in Kitchener, Ontario, where the fast-food chain was holding a hiring event.
The on-screen caption reads, “When you come for a McDonalds job fair and there’s like 300 people lined up down the street.” She continues: “Its literally impossible to find a job here! This was before the job fair even started. People must have been lined up since 7am.”
The video has since accumulated over 524,500 views and sparked a lot of reactions from viewers. Some commenters compared the Canadian and U.S. job markets.

Odd because here in Billings, Montana the McDonald’s near my home is hiring starting at $17/hr and is desperate for help. Canada is rapidly in a decline.

Immigrants into Canada are generally required to have college degrees and speak English. They do take some refugees, but the bulk of their immigrants are educated and qualify for professional jobs.
Standing in long lines to get a job at McDonalds?!
Just weird.
There are ‘Now Hiring’ signs all over the place here.
Stores like Kohl’s and Big Lots, restaurants like Arby’s and Captain D’s have limited hours due to no employees.
Other places like KFC, Popeyes and Wendy’s have slow service for teh same reasons.

I stopped at one McDs on Sat., small town in MI, it was such a chaotic mess, traffic blocked at the drive-thru, inside people were yelling about having waited 20 minutes and no food, couldn’t tell where a line started and those trying to use the kiosks said they weren’t working. Absolute mess.
Drove 20 miles down the road and at least got served inside but saw my order number disappear from the monitor and had to tell a person who found it sitting in the drive-thru area. All the time one employee just leaned up against the pickup area counter like she had nothing to do.
Just a couple of anecdotal examples of McD’s going straight to hell. But I’ll bet their ESG points are top-notch!
