KEYWORDS: brandonwhipple; lilywu; mayor; wichita
They're calling her an "outside." She's a former Republican turned Libertarian, and she's putting the squeeze on Mr. Whipple.

Whipple is the incumbent, Democrat mayor. He finished second with 23 percent of the vote in yesterday's everybody versus everybody else non-partisan primary.

Wu was among many challengers. She finished first with 30 percent of the vote.

#3 was a Republican and #4 was a non-partisan critic of the Mayor. Wu should be the favorite in the general election in November.

In these days of extreme polarization, name-calling and hate, Wu is a breadth of fresh air. Here is her platform:

Respectful. She treats all with dignity and respect.

Honest. She speaks truth and stands up for what’s right.

Kind. She always carries a caring and kind spirit.

Humble. She is a listener and servant leader, who cares deeply about the people of Wichita.

Hard Working. She is passionate and persistent to long-term goals.

Grateful. She does not take her American citizenship for granted, and believes strongly in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Of course, being a Libertarian, she is an advocate of less government, lower taxes, and de-regulation. She is also a strong proponent of law enforcement. And, as an immigrant to this country, she unabashedly proclaims her love of the American ideals of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

There is no reason for a Democrat to be mayor in a large city of a deep red state like Kansas. Chalk it up to local election voter apathy, which conservatives suffer from much more than leftists.

My Democrat mayor in my tiny suburb in Kansas is trying to wreak havoc on my city. Libs are taking over in Kansas - they’re like roaches - a few keep coming in and multiplying like crazy and you can’t get rid of them.

Four years ago when Whipple defeated the R incumbent Jeff Longwell, the Democrats and their media concocted a phony story about Longwell embezzling funds from the new baseball stadium project. It hurt Longwell.

The day after the election, the "scandal" was never mentioned again. There was no police investigation and no indictments. That's because the whole thing was a damn lie, but it worked to get their man into office.

Blue state, red state, it doesn't matter. Wherever you find Democrats, there will be massive, in your face lying.

Republicans need to get better at countering the lies of the Dems. Make them prove it or else.

Kansas isn’t deep red. They will disappoint you. 3 of the last 5 Governors were rats including the vile baby killer Kathleen Sebelius.

I know traditionally it has been, but the bane of Republicans in Kansas has been vote splitters on the conservative side in recent decades.

Kelly won by 49.54% of the vote in 2022.
Kelly won by 48.03% of the vote in 2018.

“Wherever you find Democrats, there will be massive, in your face lying.”

Chapter #1 in the Democrat playbook.

Wu is a political novice that if victorious will have c of c/developer tracks up her backsides. They own her. She and her supporters can offer nothing but cliches and generalities as she has thus far accomplished little in the civic sphere. A former local tv reporter she covered house fires and stray dogs. Possible other accomplishments but not noted in campaign.
Whipple has shown limited leadership. Funding has not translated into a broad coalition to govern. No bold statements no inspirational “follow me up the mountain”.
I would hope both lose this cycle.

“I hope both lose this cycle.”

Consider writing-in Trump. Wouldn’t be the first time he won via write-in.
