They aren’t, so we don’t.
Most people think that it was the Three Mile Island incident that did in nuclear power in the USA. It was probably really due to the movie “The China Syndrome” that was released just 12 days earlier.
I was just watching a video where all of the waste reactor fuel ever created could fit in canisters 25 feet tall and covering a football field.
The amount of energy for the mass is unbelievable. And they only get something like 5% of the energy out before they change the rods.
