Iran's Navy Inducts Combat Drones and Ballistic Missiles Amid Tensions With US

The IRGC Navy has said that its AI-powered cruise missiles would be able to turn American aircraft carriers in the region to “metal scrap”. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has inducted hundreds of reconnaissance and offensive drones as well as artificial intelligence (AI)-powered ballistic missiles among other state-of-the-art equipment, state media reported on Saturday.

The IRGC has said that the new ballistic missiles have a range of 300 to 1,000 kilometers.

The other equipment received by the IRGC Navy includes radar-equipped cruise missiles and command systems, intelligence-gathering systems and electronic warfare equipment. The domestically-manufactured equipment has been co-developed by the country’s defense ministry, the IRGC and local companies, according to official media.

The equipment induction ceremony was attended by IRGC Navy Chief Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, who told the gathering of senior defense officials that a key part of Tehran’s military power was “invisible” to its “enemies”.

Tangsiri said that the new weapons systems constituted a “major and effective step” in expanding the IRGC Navy’s capabilities. He said that the AI-powered missiles could be prepared to be “launched instantly” and hit enemy targets from “various directions”.

Iran’s Rising Tensions with US

Tensions between Iran and the US have been rising since the Pentagon announced last month that it was dispatching warships and marine reinforcements to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), which is based in the region, to counter Iran in the Persian Gulf. Additionally, the US has also reportedly sent F-35 and F-16 fighter jets to the region.

"Through these actions, the United States is demonstrating commitment to ensuring freedom of navigation and deterring Iranian destabilization activities in the region," a Pentagon statement said.

I cannot help but wonder if Iran’s wondermus AI powered missiles and “radar-equipped cruise missiles and command systems, intelligence-gathering systems and electronic warfare equipment”, will be able to tell when it is Date Nite or Pride Nite on the carriers.

When one "projects" military power around the world, one should not be surprised others would contest such a projection with their own.

In a uni-polar world this is darn near inconceivable. In a multi-polar world, it should be expected.

I posted this because I was unsure if Iran was just bragging. Ie, their claims are BS.

Since I have no military knowledge.

Siding with Iran now? Or just siding with anyone who hates America?

“Since I have no military knowledge.”

Don’t sell yourself short. I read your posts and you are far more knowledgeable and conversant than most people I know.

Respectfully,

Megan

--- "Siding with Iran now? Or just siding with anyone who hates America?"

Dear Megan, as you and I had written some private Freepmail back and forth, I will respond with some modicum of respect.

Here is what I wrote, verbatim:

When one "projects" military power around the world, one should not be surprised others would contest such a projection with their own.

In a uni-polar world this is darn near inconceivable. In a multi-polar world, it should be expected.

Nothing in those two sentences even hints at "siding with Iran" nor "anyone how hates America." What I wrote was rather factual.

If you believe that this is a uni-polar world, and currently align with its leadership -- which I remind is Joe Biden -- then the logical step is to support our foreign policy to call the shots everywhere and all the time. Is that happening? If not, then we experience a multi-polar world.

With a rapidly increasing debt soon to pass the $33 trillion dollar mark, one may well argue that playing the "world's policeman" is becoming a very big cost for our citizenry, about 4 percent of the world's population. My view is that this rapid increase in debt is soon to collide with a reality not of our choosing.

So, yeah, I side with our USA, without a doubt, but think that the current crop of Biden-mania is driving into a very deep ditch. If that sentiment is "hating America," then words and fiscal reality no longer have any meaning. I love America, and am learning to "hate" the current crop of Democrats. And the recent crop as well.

Dear Megan, next time you come hunting for me with an accusation, be prepared to cite your sources. This time, I detail Democrats who are siding with Iran. Not me. I thought and still think the whole thing was one in a number of interlocking cons.

And your knee-jerk comment to me was simply unwarranted. Emotional, but unwarranted.

Please see my comment # 8.

"Claims are BS" is such an applicable phrase to so much going on today. Best wishes.

“So, yeah, I side with our USA,”

This is all you needed to say. I retract my comment.

Thanks for that. Megan.

Sadly for us all, it is our current federal government which is not "siding with the USA." The citations were there to prove this has been an ongoing -- and to my mind -- criminal affair run by the Obama-Biden and now Biden-(Obama) team. Using our money to give outright and in cash to the Iranians. What can be made of this? Corruption at the highest levels.

Take care.

The last four presidents including Trump and Bribden should have destroyed the Iranian navy for it’s shenanigans in the gulf.
