Governor Glenn Youngkin headed to the Hamptons this weekend. Not for a relaxing day at the beach, but for a private dinner at the home of Wilbur Ross, Donald Trump’s former Commerce Secretary, who amassed a room of GOP mega donors to meet with the Virginia Republican.
Not officially billed as a fundraiser, Gov. Youngkin is said to have impressed dinner attendees – reportedly a who’s-who of the moneyed, establishment conservative class.
State elections for the Virginia legislature occur in off-years with Republicans currently holding a four seat majority in the House of Delegates (the lower legislative house) and the Democrats holding a four seat majority in the State Senate. While the purpose of Ross’s dinner for Youngkin was ostensibly to raise funds for these Virginia GOP election efforts, rumors abound that the governor may also be eying a potential run for President in 2024 – especially as the establishment frets over the collapse of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Youngkin – a former hedge fund CEO – rode a wave of parental discontent to the Virginia governor’s mansion after a male high school student, who would often wear a woman’s skirt, was accused and later convicted of sexually assaulting two female Loudon County, Virginia high school students in the girl’s bathroom.
Ross, a billionaire businessman, drew fire as Commerce Secretary for the frequency of naps he took during the work day. It was rumored Ross’s staff would have to schedule the Secretary’s day around nap times and that even then the octogenarian would nod-off during meetings. During the Trump administration, Ross often took a back seat to other figures, with the U.S.’s pre-pandemic economic boom often being credited to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and former President Trump himself.
I read the headline only. That’s enough to let me feel safe that the Republicans are working for the American people again. /s

Been saying the plan all along was for Youngkin to keep his shirt nice and clean, until it’s time.
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
Youngkin will end his political career if he challenges Trump; these RINO establishment types just don’t get it..they are extinct...what remains of their politicians are the remnants, who will fade out with time as new primary elections are held deep into the future...as they attack Trump they identify themselves...Desantis is now taking this track...expect is poll numbers to top out at about 12-15% max...its over for him.

My impression is, so far, that Youngkin has been an effective Governor for VA. Other than that I dont know much about him. What are his negatives?
He needs to be smart and run for VA Senate.

There’s always a “backup plan” against the clear frontrunner and it never works. We had “backup plans” against McCain, Romney, that we kept jumping from alternative to alternative. Didn’t change the outcome.

Even Skunk Cabbage knew that she needed to be in the US Senate before running in 2008, and again in 2016. We’ll see if Youngkin is as smart as her.

I know Youngkin pretty well. He will (and should be) president one day.

Not so sure of that, but she knows enough to stand back and watch one Republican after another DESTROY their careers due to their OBSESSION with Trump.
But she completely BLEW IT regarding the protection of woman’s sports. It should have been a NO BRAINER, but then that Chamber of Commerce creep, who she seems in love with, told her to veto the bill...so no thanks, here at least!
She signed it later. President Trump can’t run after 2028, so we need a Canidate. Donalds may be the one.
Youngkin is not going to challenge Trump. All VA house members and senators are up for election in November. He's trying to raise money for his PAC to turn VA completely red, which can happen if the stars align. If the R's gain total control, one of the first things they will do is undo the Democrat election law changes that make if very easy to cheat.
How would you feel if Donalds ran for Govenor in 26, and then President in 28?
Would he take VP?
