if you read the article, they were all fully vaccinated. they just didn’t have the latest booster that will be released any day now.
Hopefully they and everyone they know will get the new trivalent booster as soon as it is available.

You are recommending “Trivalent” this may work.
Maybe “Quadrivalent” will work or not.
