California’s Independent System Operator (ISO) warned of high temperatures and increased electricity usage during the coming week as the grid operator prepares for tight conditions works to ensure adequate supply.
In a notice released on Saturday, ISO said it is closely monitoring the power grid as widespread heat waves can cause supply shortages, with resources stretched thin across multiple Western states.
ISO said energy supplies are sufficient to meet demand.

... and throw away your natural gas and propane powered appliances; buy an electric vehicle; turn off your A/C when it gets hot and turn off your lights — even the mandated LED ones — when it gets darks There’s LOTS you can do for social posturing!

There are always hot or cold winters somewhere.
But today the climate change crap is an excuse for power operators and government which have NOT invested adequately to deflect responsibility.
The same goes for water in some places. You have the population double since the 60s but basically no real increase in reservoir capacity and then folks decry climate change when the water runs low.
It’s total BS.

They’ll only be satisfied when we’re all living in mud huts eating root vegetables, insects and getting a weekly covid shot.

Don’t forget banning gas appliances and forcing people to buy electric cars. That will surely make thing better.

California, the land of milk and honey and no lights or water. Politically correct even when they’re wrong.

This means they will shut power off to rural areas to keep the more important priority City A/Cs on.

you can do without a toaster...dryer (hang your clothes out)...use a turbo fan instead of air conditioner.
I'm in upstatw NY...use my Turbo fan...$14.99. Haven't used my air in 3 years. And can't stand the noise of the air...turbo...can't even hear it. Try it...you'll thank me.

What heat wave?
I live in San Diego. Looking at the week’s outlook, it’ll be a high of 86 on Wednesday and a high of 79 this coming weekend.
That’s not a heat wave.

Whenever the utilities post an demand alert requesting we reduce consumption, I crank up the AC and cool the house down an extra degree or two.

SoCal here.
Haven’t gotten any alerts this year so far - got plenty of them last year during our high August temps - to NOT plug in EVs or run large appliances during peak hours.

I think they should shut down the sewer plants also. Excessive use of power and water.
