The best birthday present for Social Security: increase its benefits
The Hill ^ | 08/14/2023 | NANCY ALTMAN

On Aug. 14, 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Social Security into law. Eighty-eight years later, our Social Security system is among the most successful and popular government programs in history.

Nearly every worker pays premiums (Federal Insurance Contributions or FICA) for Social Security. In return, they receive insurance benefits when they retire, become disabled, or lose a family breadwinner.

Social Security is secure, efficient, and the most important source of retirement income for the vast majority of Americans. Social Security does have one major flaw, though: Its benefits are too low.

The average Social Security benefit is only $1,700 a month — considerably lower than in peer nations. That is not enough for working families to enjoy a secure retirement or make ends meet when tragedy strikes in the form of serious and permanent disabilities or death.

So one of the most successful and popular government programs in history is a literal pyramid scheme?

Well it’s not….because pyramid schemes are illegal. And SD is government sanctioned.

(I actually heard my congressman say this.)

Meet the “trust fund”—up close and personal:

Smoke and mirrors for the peons—even when Presidents try to tell them it is fake they won’t believe it.

Hey, why not? Just increase taxes on “the rich” so that they pay their “fair share” and all the extra expense will be covered. The “rich” are an unlimited ATM machine that can fund every single social spending program or increase that the Left can dream up.

If someone is retiring with only ss, then that is either tremendously bad luck over decades or decades of poor decisions.

It is hilarious watching Congress-critters tap dance on this issue.

Anyone who understands how SS works is just one question away from finding out their Representative is a gas-lighting liar.

I remember Matthew Lesko.

Bough one of his books in the early 1990s. It was unbelievable back then how much waste there was in the federal government. Much, much worse now.

Among myself and my seven siblings you can see the stark disparity between those who stuck with a job, any job, a company, and decent company that had any kind of retirement plan and those who didn’t. My best advice to all the nieces and nephews was that time shows that job stablity in a decent job (there are few perfect jobs) proves better than thinking the grass is always greener somewhere else.

“Social Security is secure, efficient“

Typical load of BS one would expect from one of the little rats at The Hill.

This woman is a loon. I repeat myself of course but only for emphasis. This woman is a loon.

All you need to know:

"Democratic House Leader Nancy Pelosi appointed Ms. Altman to a six-year term, starting October 1, 2017, on the Social Security Advisory Board. The seven-person Board is a bipartisan, independent federal government agency established in 1994 to advise the President, Congress, and the Commissioner of Social Security."

Everything that the left can dream is limited by the fact that they will only dream up programs that will get votes from the demographic that will keep them in office.
The government grifters, government paid “workers” or contractors, lazy LONG TIME welfare dependants, schools and university administrators, students, state and county governments, and immigrants legal, or not (most likely illegal) who will get benefits and voting rights. All calculated evil intent under the cover of being munificent.

Instead, Republicans in Congress support cutting Social Security and ultimately ending the program as we know it
