Hawaii Governor Josh Green has warned hundreds more Lahaina wildfire victims will be found as just 3 percent of the search area has been scoured - and says around 1,300 people are still missing. Green said he expects search teams will find '10 to 20' bodies per day during an operation that will last around 10 days. The death toll currently stands at 96, but officials in Maui said on Saturday that teams had been able to cover just 3 percent of the search area. The governor added on Sunday that around 1,300 people were still missing.

The fire appears to have been started by fallen electric wires.
The local fire department declared one of the fires as 100% controlled ... but then it went out of control ...

This happened in the 1992 East Oakland Hills devastating fire—the fire dept declared a fire out in the morning but an ember or two reignited and the whole neighborhood hillside went up in flames.
Also very similar fact pattern to the Paradise CA 2018 fire which was the 5th deadliest in US history but is now the 7th. 85 dead there. That was a downed power line; bulldozers couldn’t get into the deep canyons to put it out.

Worst than Pearl Harbor.
The real reason was likely the neglect of the Maui forests.
Why was there no school that day? Was it cancelled or just a no school day? Were the parents off to work in other places? There are people posting about missing family members, but I have not seen a lot of people asking about their missing children. I’m not trying to downplay this tragedy. Just wondering about the situation.
They are in school in mid August?
