California High-Speed Rail, the most ambitious public transportation project in the state’s history, is still miles away from being completed, despite decades of discussion and nearly ten years of construction.
Progress has kicked up in recent years as environmental hurdles were cleared, and the High-Speed Rail Authority hopes to have the Central Valley segment, which will connect Merced to Bakersfield, completed by 2030 (give or take).
But what would it take to get the entire project — Bay Area to Los Angeles — completed even sooner? Maybe as soon as 2028, in time for the Olympics?
(Excerpt) Read more at ktla.com ...
It will be completed 1 day after Congress passes a balanced budget.
California is bankrupt and in the sewer thanks to voter fraud keeping him in office and the Marxists in the CA Assembly who are also in office via voter fraud. Greasy Newscum wants to steal more $$ from the California taxpayers no doubt.
Make no mistake, the majority of Californians loathe Greasy. Doubt that, look at all the Trump rallies held in 2020 all over the state of California on a weekly basis.
Not if there’s still more money to grift.
It’s going to take two days and you know it!!!!
LOL
“California High-Speed Rail, the most ambitious public transportation project in the state’s history, is still miles away from being completed...”
Is that the $20 billion line running between Beverly Hills and Long Beach?
If Newsom replaces Biden as the D candidate and wins, it will be his signature project, and he can waive any environmental issues that would slow it down. A couple hundred billion federal dollars later, it will be done. Short of that nightmare? It might never make it from LA to SF.
I wish they’d hurry up. There’s about six people (including 4 illegals) chomping at the bit to ride it.
The Left holds out hope for this, as if it was securing our
borders or ending the homeless situation.
That stupid hi-speed rail will still take longer than flying
to the end destination, no matter which way you are traveling
over the distance. It’s a waste of time, resources, money,
and the brain cells the Left can’t spare.
How about The money raised through general obligation bonds In 2008/2009 are to paid off over a period of 30 years. Will the high speed rail even be finished in that time frame?
Is that the $20 billion line running between Beverly Hills and Long Beach?Actually the $20 billion line runs from Long Beach to Hawaiian Gardens.
Brightline West will be running while the guvment funded project is still trying to lay pipe.
From the article:
Both Lipkin and the transit advocates who gathered to discuss an accelerated timeline concluded that an early completion would require the federal government to step in and help cover a significant portion of the bill.
California wants you all to pay
If you want to get from the Bay Area to Los Angeles, you’ll have to take a bus over the grapevine/Ridge Route from Bakersfield to LA.
I drove up the Central Valley hwy and there are some pylons here and there.
It seems it’s not really being built but they do something random every once in a while to justify the huge budget.
There’d be a random cement structure and it’d have a sign on it about getting a job working for high speed rail.
Nope not yet lots of bridges built along rt 99 but no rail
Signs about putting 10k on one in Fresno, and another with 5k in merced
