I clicked your screen name just to see if you were from Texas.

I got a kick out of the 4 FReepers you have prevented posts from. I’d ask how you did that, but even though there are plenty of idiots who I don’t want to hear from, I don’t care if they post to me or not.

I checked for you to see if they are still active. They are. I don’t really know the backstory on any of them, except that wildcard guy. And yeah. He is a tool.

The 10 U.S. cities where a $100,000 salary goes the furthest

What about the U.S. cities where a $100,000 annuity goes the farthest?

Or the U.S. cities where a $75,000 salary goes the farthest?

After all, not everyone has an annual salary of $100,000.

Regards,

The problem is finding and actually getting a job that pays $100,000 in those places. Most of those areas have an average yearly salary of less than 50,000. High paying jobs do exist there but they are not abundant.

Did the rental agreement specify how many pets were allowed? Are the cats destroying the place? Are there animal control laws which specify the maximum amount of pets the tenant can keep in the house? Does the presence of cats hamper your ability to do repair work? Has a cat harmed anyone or other person’s pet?;You may get some good advice from lawyer specializing in rental contracts.

We have friends and family in Texas. They might not have state income tax, but the property taxes are high. Also pay personal property taxes on vehicles each year.
After you retire and your income decreases, you still have the high taxes.
I would rather pay a state income tax, and keep property taxes low.

Not true. You pay a license renewal fee. About $80.00. Same as most states.

Some states have both. State income taxes AND peoperty taxes.

Tennessee and Texas have no income tax

That's true, but in Texas they make up for it in property taxes. We get royally screwed. I want to move to Tennessee but I hear things are getting expensive there as well.

I’m paying $17,000 a year in property taxes on my primary residence in Austin. It would be cheaper for me to live in Boston.

Sure seems like they deliberately missed out the affordability of the Midwest in general. Even though we aren’t a no income tax state in Indiana, we are a low tax state. Property taxes are pretty reasonable. Cost of living is pretty agreeable here, despite the hardships of the Burden administration.

Also, $100,000 is a little pricey for many people. I’d like to see them to a similar story for people who make much less.

I agree. There are a lot of families that don’t even make close to $100K.

If you are in a two-income household and not earning at least $100,000 combined ($50,000 each), then you are doing something really really wrong, since you can earn about $40,000 just working the drive threw at Chic-Fil-A.

We do not pay yearly personal property taxes on automobiles. Just $75 for a window sticker.

I lived in Wichita Falls for several years. Can’t say I miss it. And ine year the drought was so bad they were forced to used sewer water in the town supply. Treated of course. But it made for some good T short sales. “We’re number 2.”

...? after a dozen years in Central TX, have yet to pay a personal property tax on a vehicle, only annual registration which is a fraction of what I paid in California.

Don’t disagree that property taxes are too high, and they will vote in Nov to up the personal homeownership exemption to $100K... but will still have a tax bill over $6000.
