So the story went from “first hurricane in CA history” to “lots of rain as a tropical storm”.
This will be the 5th tropical storm to hit CA since 1858 but the media will tell you it’s “climate chaos”.>>> The difference is east coast west coast. The power of the storm is on the western side and needs water. On the west coast that power goes over land thus the storm dissipates rapidly the closer it gets. East coast can have that power side all the way up and the water feeds the system.
Lol! She couldn’t win a presidential election, and now her namesake can’t even muster up enough power to be called anything but a tropical storm. Kinda befitting lol.
Hurricane 101: 2 o’clock is the most force in a Northern Hemisphere cyclone (coriolis forces makes the rotation counterclockwise, whereas in Southern Hemisphere the rotation is clockwise. The old “which way does water swirl down a drain is due to the same forces), that is positionally located from 12 o’clock being the direction of the storm’s center/direction of movement. Makes it worse if the storm travels up the West Coast of the US and the landfall, supplied by the water cyclone is always hitting initial landfall at 2 to 4 o’clock position.
On the East coast—2 o’clock is generally over the ocean- but when the storm makes landfall those in the path of the 2 o’clock winds and rain get walloped then.
In either coast- once the storm is over land the pressure cycling to create the cyclone is no longer produced by ocean and it dissipates.
