Maybe outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte decided to take a bribe. Not saying he did.

Just about all of the Netherlands’ military is under German command, so the Dutch PM actually has zero authority here. Not to mention Germany being an ally of Russia.

Are the Dutch going to send the pilots and maintenance crews also?

Why?
The Netherlands have been buying F-35s to retire their F-16s. Since they were going to the boneyard now they might see some use, but the Dutch were done with them regardless:

Much easier to have an ally gift the weapons to UKR then UKR requesting them. The ally then re-applies to the US for replacements under their existing Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case(s). And it’s actually all in the agreements to do this. An integral part of NATO’s organization.
I mean, WHO could EVER have thought euro nations would need to defend against Russia?

The Dutch F16s are at the end of their service life so the Dutch are possibly getting a sweetheart deal on F35s from Biden to act as a cut out to funnel low value, soon to be scrapped F16s to Ukraine
They will possibly be flown by mercenary pilots. Lots of F16 qualified guys out there

I estimate about 42 Ukrainian pilots will die as the planes are shot down. There may be a few survivors if they manage to eject in time.

All the units are Block 15.
The only strength in the war is the fact they shoot only NATO/US missiles and some of those have very good reach for strike missions.

Too bad there isn't some international diplomatic body out there that could attempt to find some sort of diplomatic solution before this war really kicks off.
Ah, who am I kidding, there's still plenty of money to be made off of dead Ukranians.

Netherlands will send all 42 of its F-16 fighter jets. The only way the Netherlands would agree to that is if Biden agreed to replace them with F-35s.
Not to worry its a good deal for everyone. The Netherlands gets a free upgrade and our defense industry gets a nice infusion of US tax dollars.
