I know some people will be upset with me over this, but in this society at this time, attempting to completely ban abortion will GUARANTEE a Democrat sweep in the next election.
We can ban 3rd trimester. We may be able to encroach on the 2nd. But a 1st trimester ban will just get Democrats elected who will immediately repeal it.
We made progress when we focused on making it unpopular to be an abortionist and shut down clinics one by one.

It IS virtuous, and ending all abortion is a righteous goal, but it won’t happen now. Women themselves have to buy in to the evil that is murdering small humans. Their hearts must be changed before that will happen.
Hearts won’t be changed until the country returns to Christ and founding principles.
The country won’t return to Christ if First Amendment rights are quashed in the area of religion and people can’t hear the Gospel. And they’re being quashed now, every single day.
It’s going to be a long haul before we see the end of abortion.

You are speaking of rationality and political reality to people that would happily shoot anyone that is not 100% in lockstep with them.
When you get the holy rollers all frothing at the mouth to make certain an 18 yo girl that makes a mistake and then makes another mistake to try and fix the first one gets to spend her life behind bars (with us paying for her upkeep), you are not dealing with people that share the same reality we do.
Not in my name, folks. I love Jesus — enough to read his spokesmen and understand that he even loves his enemies. How it is that the holy joes really believe that everyone has the same values and morals as they do? Romans 14 made it clear that even within The Club, morality was going to be viewed differently.
The Canadian Conservative Party went down this road, and we can all see how that turned out.
They just caved in on all these issues. And it didn’t help them politically, either. They are weaker than ever.
Democrats stick with their core beliefs. Are willing to take the short term hit to advance their long term interests. Repubs just the opposite, go for the short term easy wins, and lose everything long term - as we can all see.
The Lord judges Nations, and will judge the Nations of the West, including America. As long as there is significant opposition, He may stay his hand.
But when the entire Nation endorses abortion and sodomy etc. there is great risk that He will act.
Abraham convinced the Lord to stay his hand against Sodom, for the sake of five righteous men. But there were not ever five, and the city of Sodom was destroyed.
