We want Desantis out to clear the decks and to show a unified MAGA front. Desantis needs to drop out now and start his MAGA rehabilitation campaign for ‘28. He should start with an apology for running against Trump now.

Agreed. If Trump is so confident, why doesn’t he pull the plug on the character assassinations, which are driving away potential supporters that would be required in building a winning coalition.
I’ve never heard of this polling organization, but their result supports one undeniable truth: Trump is stuck in the low-to-mid 40s when paired against Biden. Last week’s AP NORC poll is far more telling, as it showed 53% of the electorate would never vote for Trump under any circumstances. This matches precisely what Trump received in actual votes in the 2020 election (46.8%). No one is changing their mind about Trump.
Trump remains the only GOP candidate that Biden can defeat. Any hope of Trump expanding his base of support is non- existent, as he bullies and castigates groups that otherwise would need to become part of a winning coalition. He should adopt the approach Glenn Youngkin took in VA, but his narcissism would prevent any such shift in strategy.
