Law enforcement has located 1,400 people so far out of an initial number of 2,500 people reported missing.

Living people or bodies????

Many of those 2500 people were just “missing” because they could not be contacted by their loved ones because there was no cell phone service in NW Maui for several days.

Anyone who escaped north of Laihina was basically off the grid for several days.

Many of the people that perished in the fire were burned beyond recognition. Their dental office records may have too been destroyed by the fire. Hence the DNA requests. It was so hot that cast steel engine blocks in automobiles were melted/altered by the fire. I am not sure what that temperature was to melt cast/steel. So, that is why there may not be any remains of some of the victims. Not even teeth.
