New ancient ape from Türkiye challenges the story of human origins

A new fossil ape from an 8.7-million-year-old site in Türkiye is challenging long-accepted ideas of human origins and adding weight to the theory that the ancestors of African apes and humans evolved in Europe before migrating to Africa between nine and seven million years ago.

Analysis of a newly identified ape named Anadoluvius turkae recovered from the Çorakyerler fossil locality near Çankırı with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Türkiye, shows Mediterranean fossil apes are diverse and are part of the first known radiation of early hominines—the group that includes African apes (chimpanzees, bonobos and gorillas), humans and their fossil ancestors.

The findings are described in a study published today in Communications Biology co-authored by an international team of researchers led by Professor David Begun at the University of Toronto (U of T) and Professor Ayla Sevim Erol at Ankara University.

"Our findings further suggest that hominines not only evolved in western and central Europe but spent over five million years evolving there and spreading to the eastern Mediterranean before eventually dispersing into Africa, probably as a consequence of changing environments and diminishing forests," said Begun, professor in the Department of Anthropology in the Faculty of Arts & Science at U of T. "The members of this radiation to which Anadoluvius belongs are currently only identified in Europe and Anatolia."

Scientific evidence why evolution could not possibly be true:

Man did not evolve from apes. If he did then why would apes even still exist? In any case it is godless nonsense.

Scientists have been pushing the Out of Africa thesis a bit much. They wanted it to be true.

Evolution takes a whole lot more faith than Creation.

I believe it with one race only... either that or way back when there was a lot of sexual intercourse between african natives and primates. looking at some like Oprah, there is too much resemblance to ignore!!

“Man did not evolve from apes. If he did then why would apes even still exist? In any case it is godless nonsense.”

We humans are primates, as are monkeys. And our closest relatives in that evolution are chimpanzees and bonobos (going waaaaaay back). And we have a common ancestor.

However, the ancestors of Man (Homo Sapien) diverged from the ancestors of other primates over time. So, we are more closely related to chimps and bonobos than we are to other primates, though we are more closely related to chimps, from whom we diverged some six million years ago.

The DNA sequence between chimps and humans is almost 99% identical.

That does not discredit Genesis. Rather, it puts time into perspective. Hence, evolution.

“Scientists have been pushing the Out of Africa thesis a bit much. They wanted it to be true.”

No, they didn’t WANT it to be true; rather, they had to work up a theory based upon the oldest fossils found.

Genesis was written by many humans that may not have even know what a chimpanzee was. It’s just vague enough unlike most mythologies to last, but it has no bearing on the reality of animals or creation.

“Genesis was written by many humans...”

It was indeed.

“...that may not have even know what a chimpanzee was.”

That’s possible.

“It’s just vague enough unlike most mythologies to last, but it has no bearing on the reality of animals or creation.”

I view Genesis in an evolutionary sense...which is not really different from a creationist sense. God created Life, and Life evolved. And one of the evolutions became Man.

Where Genesis goes astray, though, is that it ignores the natural process of evolution; and begins at the LATEST period in the process, and not at the beginning. But that is not the fault of those who wrote Genesis, as they could only write about what was immediately known or observant to them at the time.

They’d have no more chance of guessing the early evolution of life than Galileo would to predict the Higgs bisons properties. They were just making things up based on their old oral traditions. The American Indian spirit studf is really just aa valid. Ie not at all. There’s nothing to be gained with creationism.

Liberals look at an ape and say “that is my ancestor!” Conservatives look at an ape and say “that is a liberal”
