Barack Obama’s first White House chief of staff famously declared: “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” His point has become a cynical tactic of the left ever since.
Any time there is a tragedy — capitalize on people’s suffering and despair to advance your political agenda.
It’s in keeping with this doctrine that we hear the rant that climate change was the match that lit the fires.

Four years ago, the utility company said it needed to do more to prevent its power lines from emitting sparks. It made little progress, focusing on a shift to clean energy. Between 2019 and 2022, it invested less than $245,000 on wildfire-specific projects on the island,

Hawaiian Electric repeatedly warned that “the risk of a utility system causing a wildfire ignition is significant.”
Yet the money that WAS spent on fire mitigation was less than 1% of what was recommended.
Almost every fire expert now acknowledges downed power lines ignited the fires.
This was precisely the same thing that turned California into a tinder box and charred more than 5 million acres of land.
So why wasn’t the money spent to prevent this tragedy? The answer is partly gross government mismanagement.

Green kills children and other living things.
I’m all for good stewardship of the earth God created, but not at the cost of killing human beings made in the image of God Almighty!
Don’t forget Canada!
It’s all such a tragedy.
“I’m all for good stewardship of the earth God created”
I would say the best stewards of the land are farmers & ranchers. Followed by hunters & fishermen. Never bureaucrats
It it kills humans then their plan is working just fine, just as they want it to.
That’s the objective.
And in many cases, starting the fires that causes the burn.
Trees are the leading cause of forest fires
.
“Green activists have hurt the environment by letting Hawaii and California burn”
Yes, that is true. However, much like the devastation caused by leftists in democrat-controlled inner-cities, there is not much we can do. So, rather than wasting our time and effort (and breath) explaining to them the errors of their ways, our best bet is to stay away from those areas and concentrate on our own. We have tried to explain the causes of things such as spreading wildfires, increased crime, the bad economy, political corruption, and increased homelessness to them for decades without any success. Just stop waiting your time.
We need to work to may sure our local communities do not follow in the foot-steps of the progressives and to “nip it in the bud” should they move into our towns and try to start their progressive policies in conservatives areas.

If there’s a spot of cancer in your body do you leave it alone and focus on the rest of your body?
Those who keep saying just avoid cities, move out to country, focus on your own little world, are allowing the cancer to spread.

The irony is that the current problem was caused by a century of extinguishing forest/wildfires, NOT by lacking ‘mitigation’.
Few can wrap their head around that one without some self-education on Fire Ecology and extricating one’s head from the nether regions of social media/msm.
It will take generations of wildfires and smoky skies - NOT billions of dollars as they are now alleging - to correct the nature imbalance imparted by arrogant human activity (extinguishing natural fires).
