George Orwell was a genius at political perception and human psychology. From what I understand, he learned it the hard way.

I looked up your last quote and found it on page 183 of "1984." I just re-read that entire page. It is absolutely SHOCKING how much it describes the world we are living in today. This page is really worth reading...
