A federal court emasculated the 3A some time ago. Here’s what happened. A police department took over some innocent guy’s house. The cops wanted to use the house to monitor some local criminal behavior.

The home owner didn’t want the cops there. Too bad, said the cops. So the home owner sued, saying that his 3A rights were violated. Too bad, said a federal court. The 3A doesn’t apply to police. It only applies to soldiers being quartered in your house.

Oh, and the cops didn’t just take over the innocent guy’s house. They also arrested him for “obstructing a police officer” before occupying his home.
