Ukraine’s Offensive Makes Progress
The New York Times ^ | September 1, 2023 | Julian E. Barnes and Gaya Gupta

Ukrainian forces have made “notable progress” in their counteroffensive over the last 72 hours, notching wins against the second line of Russian defenders, a White House spokesman, John F. Kirby, said at a news conference on Friday.

The United States, Mr. Kirby said, will not discuss Ukraine’s war plans, or how its forces would exploit their gains. But, he added, the U.S. expects Ukraine to continue to push further south, requiring “tough fighting ahead.”

Ukraine’s military celebrated a tactical victory earlier this week when its forces retook the southern village of Robotyne. Days later, Ukrainian assault units moved east toward Verbove, where several lines of defense converge.

On Friday, Andriy Kovalev, a spokesman for the general staff of Ukraine’s armed forces, said that Ukrainian troops had successfully pushed about three and a half miles farther south of Robotyne toward Melitopol, a primary target of the counteroffensive. Ukrainian troops struck Russian targets with artillery, Mr. Kovalev added.

We are being gaslighted to the hilt lately. All to keep that money flow going and make it look like Ukraine is doing so well.

Article after article from the usual suspects creating the illusion of overnight victories. LOL

The average US citizen couldn’t care less about Ukraine. They just want it all over.

Zelensky is coming to the US this month to attend a UN conference. Congress votes on aid to Ukraine this month.

Coincidence that we are now being treated to Ukraine propaganda that the Ukrainian counteroffensive is succeeding? Think not.

For the past year and a half these cheerleaders supported Biden's latest mess with their vocal support, and it's all been lies. More than 500k killed and wounded along with at least $150bn in US tax dollars gone without even a hint of an audit

“counteroffensive is succeeding?”

three and a half miles ...... I wonder how many men .. both sides .. died for those three and a half miles?

I really think we are seeing the birth of the last of the great wars...

Time to stock up on sticks and stone for the next one.

Well well, now we know why the illusion of great victories and the pinpricks of a few drone strikes.

All about US taxpayer Benjamins.

Right, because bogging down and degrading the #2 military (russian) in the world is not enough of an achievement.

Darth Putin @DarthPutinKGB

The tankie guide:

-but It’d 2 weeks/3 days

-It won’t happen

-NATO made it happen & now Kiev will fall

-It was feint

-We never said 3 days or 2 weeks

-We withdrew cos we were asked to

-The fact Ukraine has not already inflicted a 4th defeat &retreat on 🇷🇺 shows they are losing

Ukraine hardly qualifies as a “Great War.”

By comparison, Google the Battle of Kursk. The Soviets were responsible for two-thirds of the casualties suffered by the Wehrmacht during WWII.

Maybe, but it will be what our Founding Fathers stated- do NOT get involved in foreign entanglements. It is getting obvious this is the “ event” that toppled US supremacy and hegemony. We are witnessing a huge historical event with new world superpowers emerging- and the US will not be one of them.

History shows it will not happen overnight, but a slow going into US’s “ irrelevancy “.

--- "a White House spokesman, John F. Kirby, said...."

Pelosi's detailing of the wrap-up smear and how it works comes to mind. When a government statement by a distant non-combatant is the testimony and the diffcult-to-evaluate "progress" is the message, it smells like a sales pitch. From a Democrat in a Democrat-dominated administration.

So our Lend-Lease (Oct 1941) to Britain was a mistake? Idiocy. Also, our Founding Fathers signed the Treaty of Alliance with France (1778) which was the main reason we won.

The founding father of which you speak was George Washington. He was at root just a Virginia farmer. He can be said to be the original isolationist.

His final victory at Yorktown was the direct result of the French fleet blockading the British fleet. That is, absent “foreign entanglement” Washington could not win at Yorktown

If this is so, shouldn’t the US be attacking there with any and all “assets” that can plausibly be called “Ukranian” in order to wipe the Russians out there?
