During a portion of an interview with CBS News aired on Friday’s broadcast of “CBS Evening News,” Hawaii Gov. Josh Green (D) stated that the fires in Hawaii were “A tragic natural disaster,” and that “if other decisions were made, it is possible that we wouldn’t have had such loss.” But he doesn’t want to say officials were asleep at the wheel or if Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen should resign because “we should really get to all of the facts,” and deciding to resign “is a deeply personal discussion for any Mayor and his or her constituents to have.”
CBS News National Correspondent Jonathan Vigliotti asked, “Is it time for the Mayor to resign? What are your thoughts?”

“Asleep At The Wheel”. Awesome band.
My God...where were your brains...
A “mistake” that leads to hundreds of lives being lost is more than just a simple mistake. That’s why we have laws like vehicular manslaughter on the books... and that level of “mistake” usually impacts just a few lives by comparison.
Yeah they are. This rat Governor not so much. Why did Hi end up such a hopeless rats nest?
Great Christmas album.
The voters wanted free stuff—and got it good and hard.
Probably endorsed by o’bamski.
“Mistakes were made”
Having lived on both Oahu and Kauai, and visited the other islands frequently, I can confidently state that every level of government on the islands is run by very stupid, lazy, racist incompetent individuals.
“Hawaiian officials, conducting violin concert, were fiddling together while lahaina burned” should be the headline.
btt
I can’t recall where I read it, but I read somewhere this past week that the person in charge of emergency management has zero experience and is essentially a political appointee.
If this is indeed true, it is an example of the Deep State and government in general, and why they hate Trump so much because they know they will be unemployed and maybe in prison if Trump is elected again.
These people are no different than a turd that won’t flush. They just keep rising to top of the toilet bowl.
When I was a Second Lieutenant, I learned very quickly and very harshly that it was my job to take care of my people.
The problem with these civilian government employees is that they never learn this lesson.
Civilian government employees should have their asses kicked early in their careers so that they remember that they work for the citizens.
I would be glad to do it.
“This governor is a real piece of crap. I’m sure the people of Hawaii will re-elect him no problem.”
I’ve lived in Hawaii 23 years and counting.
People of Hawaii don’t elect anybody. Unions and government employees do.
On my island, the Big island of Hawaii, the largest employer is the government.
how many dead how many homeless how many businesses and lively hoods destroyed and will never recover? well we could have did it differently, maybe next time

Arborist explains Maui, Redding, Paradise, Santa Rosa, CA, etc., fires. It’s very interesting that he points out the temperatures that causes car window glass melts at 2500 degrees. Wheels at 2750 degrees. And yet the people in charge say this burned at 1200 degrees.
Well, if the CONvid didn’t get ‘em, they’ll find another way.
Not asleep at the wheel. Eyes wide open as their land clearance plan was matched with the opportunity provided by the start of the fire. For government employees at desk or planning jobs humans are no more than data points to be manipulated or deleted as appropriate.
