A New Jersey business owner used a drone to drop damaging dye into pools at homes and a motel in Atlantic County in recent weeks, authorities said.
Patrick Spina IV, 45, of Absecon, was arrested at his business in Galloway on Friday after Absecon police and other law enforcement agencies tracked the drone back to Comfort Solutions Heating and Cooling, officials said.
Absecon police began investigating Aug. 13 after homeowners called to say a drone hovering over their pool dropped a dye into it. The dye turned the pool water “an alarming shade of green.”
Police then got reports from other homeowners also saying the dye discolored their pools.
Absecon police charged Spina shortly after the drone stuck again on Friday, dropping the dye into the pool at the Quality Inn in Galloway. Police took Spina into custody after seeing the drone land at his business on White Horse Pike.

Looks like he may be a plumber as well, per an internet search of other businesses associated with that name in that community.
Or, it could be an unrelated person with that name that does plumbing and HVAC that works in the same community.
Dumbass should have flown it from a competitors location
Or maybe he just hates pools.
Or the color blue.
“Looks like he may be a plumber as well”
Yep. I always call a plumber when my pool water gets ickey ...
That's what I said, how does a dye damage? A drone could not carry enough dye to do any significant amount of damage.........
Several years back, a local tire store owner was arrested for spreading nails on the roads to get business................
and then there are the Connecticut State troopers phonying up traffic stop numbers.
If they are still building and disturbing the grou d, the nearby homes are getting the mice driven out by the heavy equipment. Always take preemptive measures against the vermin invasion before moving in and any time you see a bachhoe in the neighborhood.
Ah, a variation of the broken window fallacy.
But as Frédéric Bastiat concluded in 1850, there is no net benefit in this to society. This type of behavior should therefore be disapproved of.
Plaster in-ground pools have very strict requirements to stay open. The water must be clear, the bottom drains must be visible

When my kids were young, I had a large above ground pool. I filled it with city water from a garden hose. Very expensive and long process. Within 48 hours after filling, the water turned black as coal.
I knew the kids couldn’t possibly track that much mud into it in such a short time, the pool was surrounded by grass.
I went to the city water company to seer if I could get any info from them. When the lady saw my address, she had an explanation for me. My section of town was on a new well and the water had ca lot of magnesium in it and after it sits for a while it turns black. She assured me that it was harmless to drink.
Staining of the pool. They should make him swim every one of those pools and then walk around town along with the normal punishment.
“Drumming up business.”
How does an HVAC company drum up business by polluting pools?
Ask the original poster I was replying to. My guess is maybe he has a pool cleaning sideline.
“Ask the original poster I was replying to. “
I was mislead thinking that was you since there were no quotes or italics used.
No different than what the fed gov does day in and day out, create a problem by your own nefarious means, then solve it using taxpayer money, skim some off the top
I think the mafia uses the same business model less the taxpayer funds.
People have died in murky hotel pools, with their bodies undetected for a few days.
I’m a fanatic about any pool in any of my communities being 100% compliant.
I would like to give that joker a “behind the woodshed” treatment. He not only cost these people money, he endangered lives.
My dad owned a glass company. Before he bought into it they became a union shop.
Apparently the final step was when they finished a storefront job. That night all the glass was shattered with a union business card taped to the frame.
Years later the union was a joke. When I was about 16, I was working there. The union went on strike. All the men sat outside all day with their picket signs. At 3 pm, they put their picket signs inside the shop then went back and worked for a few hours under the table.
What a great crew.
