The Third World War has already started and people should expect more conflicts to break out, Ukraine’s top security chief declared on Tuesday.
Speaking from the Kyiv Security Forum alongside former CIA chief General David Petraeus, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov said that “people that think the Third World War has not yet started make a big mistake.”
“This is not just about relations between Ukraine and Russia, it’s also a big mistake. It’s a much more complicated geopolitical situation and some sober-minded people have said that this is not the last war in this century,” Danilov continued.
Rejecting the idea of coming to the negotiating table with Moscow, Danilov — who previously served as the mayor of the now Russian-occupied Donbas city of Luhansk — compared the situation his country is currently facing to London during the Blitz, saying that President Franklin D. Roosevelt would not have called Winston Churchill and say “don’t bother Hitler, he has a strong army, don’t anger him, just accept this.”
“Unfortunately, the balls of some people in big-time politics now are soft-boiled eggs, they are scared stiff before Russia,” he said of Western figures calling for peace negotiations.

I am not so sure about that for several reasons.
1. We withdrew (fled) from Afghanistan a couple of years ago leaving approximately $85 billion of equipment and weapons behind after 20 years of fighting, and the end result was the Taliban are back in charge again.
2. All service branches cannot meet minimum recruitment requirements.
3. Promotions in military leadership from the Pentagon all the way down to NCOs in the field is based upon race, sexual orientation and gender identity rather than ability.
4. And probably most importantly (imho) is our defense industry is not geared up or prepared to produce the massive amount material necessary for a war against a comparable or sizable military like Russia, China, or India. I have read some estimates that state we have perhaps only enough ammunition available for a month or two of high intensity combat. It would require at least 6 months of massive investment to overhaul and upgrade our weapons manufacturing base to ramp up production to supply our military adequately. And if you consider the trillions of dollars in weapons and equipment already wasted in Iraq and Afghanistan along with the failure of our military leadership/Pentagon to successfully suppress and defeat a bunch of goat herders in a third-world sh!t hole, it’s doubtful we would be successful.
Russia has invested heavily in preparation prior to their invasion and their armament industry is in overdrive producing ammunition since before their invasion and their factories are working 24/7 to maintain production levels.
So, I am very doubtful that “we” are prepared to fight a war with Russia.

In my neck of the woods there are plenty of good kids still wanting to join the military. The military will just outsource more operations and carry on if they can’t recruit troops directly.
Super Power Russia has prepared so well for its war of choice with its much smaller neighbor that it is still fighting in the border regions after near 2 years. The Soviet and Russian Kremlin have always known it would lose a war with NATO. That is why it and its Quisling surrogates have always tried so furiously to get the west to surrender.
In answer to another question on Friday, Russian news agencies reported that Putin had said he would still want to live in the here and now if he could choose what period of history to live in.
