Per the other thread, people, understand the numbers.
NPRA has a history. It was originally estimated to hold 7 billion barrels. Then some actual exploratory drilling happened and concluded nope, less than 1/10th that. 600 million barrels.
Know that this is close to nothing. The Permian produces about 5.8 million barrels/day. Per DAY. If you produced that from this 600 million barrel field you would last 100 days, assuming you could get all of the 600 and nowhere ever does.
Nobody is going to put in pipelines and infrastructure for 100 days out output.
Flow at 1 million bpd and you get 2 years. And nobody is putting in pipelines for 2 years output, either.
This is very small potatoes to get angry about. It’s like most oil field arguments. They go away when the people understand the numbers.
The US consumes 20 million barrels/day. This field, if you could get all of the 600 and you can’t, is a month of consumption.
