Ohio Supreme Court Dismisses Congressional Redistricting Challenges

As anticipated, the Ohio Supreme Court on Sept. 7 formally dismissed two legal challenges to the state's post-2020 Census congressional district map, fixing them into place for the 2024 election cycle. The dismissals were briefly noted without comment in a four-page ‘Case Announcements’ update from the Ohio Supreme Court issued two days after plaintiffs in Neiman v LaRose (pdf) and League of Women Voters of Ohio v Ohio Redistricting Commission (pdf) petitioned to drop their lawsuits. The inconspicuous conclusions end more than 18 months of post-2020 Census litigation in Ohio, although dozens of similar redistricting lawsuits are proceeding or pending nationwide in state and federal courts, including a South Carolina case to be heard Oct. 11 before the United States Supreme Court.

The legislative districts adopted by the seven-member Ohio Redistricting Commission in 2021 and signed into law that November by Gov. Mike DeWine drew lawsuits from numerous groups claiming they were unfairly gerrymandered by GOP leaders.

Among them was Neiman v LaRose, filed March 21, 2022, on behalf of Meryl Neiman and 11 other individual Ohio voters by Columbus attorney Donald McTigue with support from two high-powered, Washington-based law firms affiliated with the Democrat party.

Any redistricting seen as favoring republicans is called gerrymandering in order to "disenfranchise" black voters.

Any redistricting put in place to favor minority voters is seen as supporting "equity" in elections.

Well, I hope Meryl Neiman wasted a lot of money unsuccessfully fighting to get their own gerrymandering (because these districts were NOT gerrymandered), but I have a suspiction the money ultimately came from the DNC, or $0r0$, or china, through intermediaries.

Or possibly US taxpayers, via the Ukraine. Or Afghanistan.

Watch Ohio, do Republicans there want to be the same as Michigan?

I wish I could feel that this will be the end of it, but I'm sure they'll be back as soon as they find money and crooked lawyers enough.
