As I had to break it down for someone, he said “no” three times in that short answer.

Why would anyone need a canned answer to this particular question? It’s an obvious and simple “no”.

Either science will come up with a Frankenstein solution for men to give birth or they won't, so some day they will come up with some answer to the question. some people are programmed with yes no answers and some aren't.

I read though Trump’s statement a couple of times, and his “shocking closing” struck me as pure sarcasm on his part.
Because the country is split. “No” works fine if you don’t have to convince anyone. “To me, it’s about birth, men can’t have babies”, works better because it comes with an explanation. “No, next question” is a canned red meat answer. I think this works to the audience he needs to win. To me, he came across as someone who gave it some thought and who considered the arguments of the other side.
They want a red meat answer. At the same time they say Trump only knows how to appeal to the base. The answer place well if you ask me. Not dismissive, he’s gives his reason and comes across as someone who has actually heard the other sides arguments. He’s stating to talk to more than just the base. It’s what is needed to get him back in. A good thoughtful answer.
The right side of the issue is the same as the leftist side of the issue...to you.
After watching the republican party for half a century, the thing I’ve observed about Trump is he tends to be more conservative than his words while his adversaries tend to be less conservative than their words. He’s set a new standard for the GOP. Why wouldn’t any real conservative stick with him?
