VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 78-year-old DeLeon Springs man is in jail without bond, accused of shooting and killing his neighbor during a dispute over trees.

Edward Druzolowski is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 42-year-old Brian Ford.

911 calls released Monday reveal it was the suspect's wife who called for help. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office also released body cam video showing Druzolowski's arrest.

“My husband had it in his hand. He meant to scare him, and he hit him. He was on our property,” she said.

The victim’s mother tells a harrowing story. Her son was trimming tree limbs for her when he was shot and killed in front of his 8-year-old son Sunday night.

She says she and her neighbor weren't exactly friendly but never expected something like this.

Mother of victim says the fence is two feet inside her property, so he was trimming on her property although the other side of the fence.

Cowardly old geezer. Lots of stories of confused old men blasting dudes in recent years.

Kill an unarmed guy in front of his kid and you should hang in the town square

It’s best to know your property lines - when I moved into my current home, it turned out our beautiful porch room was built without a permit - and reached into out next door neighbor’s property. We had it rebuilt immediately.

When our fence was put in, the fencing company wouldn’t proceed until they found the exact property lines, which took a while, they asked for a surveyor, but eventually found the marked lines. Turns out one of their flower beds is on my property, on the other side, the fence went in further than I thought it would b/c of the property line on that side.

I have nice neighbors and wish to keep it that way.

Don’t pull out a weapon unless you intend to use it, stupid old man. You’re not privileged to threaten deadly force for a nonviolent trespass like this

I am only 60 now, but if I make it to 78, I don’t want to get that worked up over something so trivial in the grand scheme of things.

And then the bastard pointed the gun at the victim's mother - and then pointed it at the poor kid and yelled, "Shut up!"

He should burn.

Yep. It’s best not to mess with or engage the old men because they’re totally unreasonable and simply do not care. At the same time, old men seem to start shit where this isn’t any, like in the news story above.

“Get off my yard!” Perhaps there is more to the story, or a history. I don’t believe anything I see in the media these days. They have zero credibility.

Lot’s of stories about young millennials mouthing off to old-geezers too.

Not surprised many old geezers have had enough.

Hate to blame the victim here but when a mean old bastard like this points a gun at you, it's time to apologize and back away. Might even wanna call him sir in the process.

I am 76 and I care. It’s to 20-somethings that seem not to care.

I’m 80 years old and have a really nice story about my next-door neighbor who is a really good Christian and has done some wonderful favors for me, including helping me remove the body of my late Great Dane who died in my living room. To put some background to this I am a long run carrier, always keeping a loaded weapon in my car and another loaded one in the house.

Shortly after my neighbor moved in he had a large tree removed from his property. In the course of this his tree contractor parked one of its vehicles on my property without getting my permission. I was a bit ticked about this, but kept my mouth shut and didn’t make any complaints. Thereafter I got to be meet my neighbor and he did me one or two unnecessary but very nice favors. Since then we have gotten along really well and I give him a very nice Christmas present that works with his family as well as him. This shows how a little bit of tolerance about things like tree trimming can you get you a great deal more than anger, especially anger and threats backed up by a firearm that should not be carried under such circumstances.

Old men get set in their ways, they sometimes lose the ability to accept that people are fallen and the world is not in their control

My father was a very responsible man. Very polite in public dealings, very conscientious, very law-abiding. He took care of his own and his family, and always assumed others should be the same way.

Behind his house was a single mom, who, as you could imagine, didn’t have her sh** together. Her young kids were loud and out of control, her yard unkempt and untended. Various men living there who would come and go. Always some drama going on.

Dad didn’t like some of the neighbors, but reserved most of his ire for her and her kids. I wouldn’t want them as neighbors either, but she was mostly oblivious to his ire, and he suffered more from his own disdain than she did.

“This shows how a little bit of tolerance about things like tree trimming”

Yup.

The concept is “pay it forward”.

You always want to do that with neighbors—you do the good deed first without announcing it or asking for credit.

The good deed can include not complaining when you are well within your rights to complain.

In most cases you will be rewarded many times over...

And now not only does the old man spend rest of his life in prison, his wife no longer has his support in her old age.

Idiotic move on his part

“Kill an unarmed guy in front of his kid and you should hang in the town square”

______________________________________________

Hanging is too good for him. According to the victim’s mother, the crazy old SOB even pointed the gun at the victim’s crying and traumatized 8 y/o son telling him to “Shut up, kid.” He needs to be tarred, feathered, and shackled in public for a few days and pelted with urine and feces. Then he should be hung in public afterwards.
