Polish President Andrzej Duda reportedly cancelled a planned meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky at the United Nations in New York as relations between the two neighbouring countries have grown increasingly tense over the issue of grain.
A meeting between the two presidents was scheduled to take place during the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York City, yet, President Duda called off the meeting, claiming that there was a scheduling conflict and that they may meet at another time, Rzeczpospolita reported.

Poles and Ukrainians have a very strained relationship, which NATO and the USA is trying to contain and control, like trying to sweep spilled mercury. A lot of stuff went on which doesn’t go into standard American history textbooks about WWI and WWII
My various Polish work-colleagues have told me: “we Poles suffered under the Germans, we suffered under the Russians, but we suffered most under the Ukrainians.”
Heard it the same way, from Ukrainians.

Polish President Duda: Defeating Russia in Ukraine war is the only ‘guarantee of peace’
“It is about making sure that Russia is not able legally to forcefully shift the borders in Europe,” Duda told CNN’s Jake Tapper in an interview from the United Nations headquarters in New York.
“This is the guarantee of peace in the future, also for the United States.” Poland and Ukraine share a lengthy border, an area where the war resonated fiercely on Tuesday after Russian drones struck warehouses in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv.
There is no compromise solution, Duda also said – a position shared by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Both leaders took the podium in New York on Tuesday morning, as the United Nations General Debate got underway.
“Russia can be stopped only if it is defeated, and it will be defeated when Ukraine pushes out the Russian army from the occupied territories, thanks to the help of the United States, thanks to the help of the West, and when it regains control over its internationally recognized borders. Only then will we be able to say that Russian imperialism was really defeated,” Duda told Tapper.

Since February 2022, Poland has been among the top suppliers of major arms to Ukraine, not least because it held stocks of Soviet-era equipment that Ukraine's armed forces still relied on in the first months after the invasion.
The Poles are having elections soon. The politicians need to be mindful of that. It’s not much more than that.
