The pilot who ejected from a $100 million F-35 fighter jet claimed to have lost the plane in the weather — and likely bailed out before he could activate its tracking system, sources and experts said.
“He’s unsure of where his plane crashed, said he just lost it in the weather,” a voice can be heard saying of the pilot on a Charleston County Emergency Medical Services call posted Tuesday by a meteorologist.
The unidentified pilot landed in a North Charleston residential neighborhood and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
He has since been discharged.
Military officials have not yet released a specific reason for the pilot’s hasty exit, only referring to the incident as stemming from a “malfunction.”

I think he was discharged from the hospital, not the service.

It was discharged from the hospital. When I first read the line I thought it was 'discharged discharged' (and not hospital discharged). It could have been written better.
“The plane is probably in China by now.”
Or in Ukraine on a training mission.

Ejecting due to bad weather?
Lots of pilots fly successfully (in less capable aircraft) in very "bad weather", as a common and manageable occurrence.
I include myself here.
The tracking part of the story is a minor secondary, the big question is why the pilot ejected.
One suspects that there might be much more to the story.
The Chinese hacked the airplane’s software. Accordingly, our government will blame the pilot.

You get on the radio and your instruments and land the aircraft He’s just lucky the aircraft didn’t hit a Disney cruise ship. Austin would have had his ass.
Affirmative action hire of a minority incompetent. That buzz has been out on the inter webs for days. Quite possibly a woman or even a tranny. The cowardly ejection because of “weather” sounds like a woman to me frankly. The concealment of the identity virtually seals the proof.
