I’m on a cruise ship with 30 friends and half came down with “”a cold” within 4 days. Hearing everywhere that there’s something going around and people are JOKING it’s covid.
Interesting ain’t it, that on cruise ship NO ONE seems to care it may be a COVID outbreak.
The fear porn crowd has lost the battle. No one cares on a jam packed cruise ship. Btw I be seen maybe 5 people wearing masks. 4,000 passengers, 1600 crew. NCL Escape.
We took a Royal Caribbean cruise with six family members (including my wife and I) in July. We were on the Ovation of the Seas which is the same size you reported.
We had the same experience — four of us got sick by Day 4 (my wife, daughter, and her husband - his mom & husband avoided it). Saw about 5 masks on board. My wife and I are vaxxed. I take all the COVID supplements. We both tested positive with a home test. I took a lab test at the Urgent Care - also positive.
Basic mild-to-mid cold symptoms - sore throat, malaise, achy muscles, loss of smell and taste. Interestingly, I had NO fever at all. Not once.
I bounced back pretty quickly, but my wife took a couple extra days. Our kids got more sick (neither are vaxxed) and took longer to recover. My malaise lasted about two weeks.
Perhaps the fear pron crowd has lost that battle, but here in my little town of ~3000 people, there are folks re-donning their face diapers on their own.
The fear-mongers have won more folks over than you realize.
It might be. But we have herd immunity. And the virus is weaker now. That's not where we were at back in 2020.
I was on the NCL Joy in Nov 2019, when it docked in San Pedro. There were waiting ambulances to whisk away Nora Virus patients to the local hospital.
Cruise ships and especially the buffets are a breeding ground for contagious diseases. I like to go on cruise ships, but I use extreme amount of hand sanitizer and avoid the buffet. I also prefer the smaller ships.
Good luck.
