I’ve seen estimates that they have 1500. But they are mostly old and they won’t work as intended without frequent and expensive maintenance. If I recall the US maintains 5000 or so. They are regularly maintained. The purpose of nuclear testing was to find the limits of how long they’d last in the silo. We have that data. The radiation deteriorates the triggers and there’s a variety of hydrogen that must be replaced periodically. My understanding is that Russia can no longer manufacture that variety of hydrogen. So, yes, they have them and they will cause damage, but probably not the damage they were intended to have.
Was the maintenance money they did have spent on maintenance or a villa in South of France? My money is on the villa in the South of France.
