Sam Bankman-Fried Paid Tom Brady $55M for a Week of Work, Author Says: ‘Tom Adored Him’

Tom Brady was paid $55 million for doing about a week’s worth of work total over a three-year period by disgraced cryptocurrency mogul Sam Bankman-Fried, according to a bestselling author.

Michael Lewis, who wrote “Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon,” told CBS’ “60 Minutes” that the former FTX head Bankman-Fried, whose federal trial on fraud and money laundering charges is set to begin in Manhattan on Tuesday, splurged on endorsements from Brady, Stephen Curry, and Larry David.

Bankman-Fried, who has pleaded not guilty, oversaw a $32 billion empire that collapsed after his firm allegedly used customer deposits to cover risky bets by his hedge fund, Alameda Research.

“He paid Tom Brady $55 million for 20 hours a year for three years,” Lewis, who shadowed Bankman-Fried for those fateful months during which his company went bankrupt and he was arrested and indicted, told CBS.

$55M for 20 hours a year for three years? Yeah, I’d adore him too.

Steph Curry got $35MM.
Larry David got $10MM.
Brady got $55MM.

All these were endorsements for three Superbowl Commercials. The commercials cost an additional $25MM each to produce.

Paid in cash, or in stock that turned out to be worthless?

...”was paid....” is in the past tense. In what form was the payment made? Was it tied to other ‘investments’? Did Brady actually collect?

I wonder if this could open The GOAT up to civil...or criminal...consequences.

Except that he lost it all. So Brady lost it all, and has legal liabilities on top of that. Say what you want about Taylor Swift, but they offered her $100 million, and she turned it down.

Brady is likely the greatest quarterback ever, no one ever said ge was smart though. Knowing when and where to toss a ball is not a sign of genius

I didn’t make the headline and I know Roman numerals well. But many headline use an “M” to stand for millions. In fact, the majority.

I don’t agree he is the greatest QB. He won an amazing amount of Super Bowls, and he is a great QB. More later.

Interesting but Brady says that he lost money when the firm collapsed, so was he paid in FTX stock?? if so, and he never sold any of it then he took a big loss

I bet he was paid in stock that ended up being worthless because he said he took a loss when the firm went bankrupt.

I bet Brady thought he was gonna get a good deal like William Shatner dead with Priceline. Shatner was originally played in stock when he was doing all those Priceline commercials 25 years ago, and the stock exploded, and he made a hell of a lot of money.
