I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having both gas-powered and electic vehicles, if not for flexibility.

It might actually be prudent to produce tanks that are capable of being both gas and electric powered.

Except the enemy is not going to waste tonnage on his vehicles with crap like that, so our vehicles would then be outclassed.

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having both gas-powered and electric vehicles, if not for flexibility.”

So you want to go to the added expense of designing and producing two different types of every vehicle the military has? For “flexibility “? Just the design, tooling and initial production of the electric vehicles would run into the billion$.
Then think about the cost of shipping two types of vehicles half way across the world. An expensive situation that.
Then there’s the problem of dual fuels, and no, the sun isn’t shining over there. Where ever over there is. So you have to send generators and fuel for the generators AND fuel for the ice vehicles.

Better a uniformity of equipment so the supply of fuel, parts and replacements are easy as possible. Fewer of our people will end up dead that way.
After all, there is a perfectly valid reason most soldiers carry the same rifle as the guy beside them. There are exceptions for snipers and other specialists. Even the squad automatic weapon uses the same ammo as the M-16.
