The Justice Department this week hit Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) with a superseding indictment including a new but all-too-familiar charge: being an unregistered foreign agent under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
I cannot recall another sitting member of Congress being criminally charged as a foreign agent.
Yet even if this is the first such case, the charge has been freely used by the Justice Department in all but one case: Hunter Biden.
The indictment accuses Menendez of being a foreign agent on behalf of Egypt.
Also charged under the law is Menendez’s wife, Nadine, and Egyptian American businessman Wael Hana.
The inclusion of the FARA charge against Menendez, his wife and his associate only highlights the absence of any such charge against President Biden’s son Hunter.
For years, some of us have raised the glaring contradiction in how the Justice Department has approached the Hunter Biden case with its treatment of past defendants like Donald Trump associate Paul Manafort.
The Justice Department has been quick to indictment Manafort and others on FARA charges, but continues to prevaricate over such a charge for the president’s son.
Indeed, when Menendez was charged, I wrote about the striking similarities in the cases, including the gifts and benefits showered on both men.

Menendez is the designated fall guy.
So now he’ll get 30-40 charges, talking too loud in class, mattress label removal, jaywalking after midnight...that’s how they do this.
And of course, this is why we fought the Revolution: so we could end up living in a mad, vicious police state with hyper zealous “prosecutors” who make Torquemada look like a liberal.

Menendez is a safety screen for Hunter. The Dems can say, “see? we prosecute Democrat miscreants, too! and if Hunter had committed those crimes yall are lying about we would prosecute him fully!”

EVERYONE IS SMELLING THE SAME RAT. Anyone who believes that Menendez is the only Senator with gold bars stashed away or is a pedophile was born yesterday.
People who aren't particularly smart and don't have any remarkable skills (except for lying) just don't become multi-millionaires shortly after beginning a new job.
Somebody powerful must want Menendez's job. Badly.

I think there may be something to that possibility. When they were looking for the low-hanging fruit to promote that narrative, Menendez was the natural choice. Since he had been charged with similar accusations in the past, there would be no problem in getting everyone to believe the allegations no matter what he provides as a defense.
The media mocks the thought that he would keep cash and gold bars at his home. However, how many here have cash “stashes” at their home? Yes, maybe not to the level that he did, but I suspect many here have several thousand dollars stuck away that they have saved up over the years “just in case”. And many may also have an ounce or two of gold or silver. Also “just in case”. So those defenses are not that unreasonable. Not that I don’t think he is guilty. However, I suspect that just about every other politician is just as guilty as he is if the truth were known.
For some reason the left wants to get rid of Menendez.
He’s muscling in on the Biden syndicate.
They have a few more countries left into tap yet.
The Left is the bane not only of the United States but of the world. The only countries who benefited from President Biden and his family were our enemies.
