So, he was imprisioned in Florida on charges there, and had his name on a watch list in Georgia, and the cops in Georgia were angry about what happened in Florida and put him on a “list”, tracked him down, and tried to arrest him on trumped up charges?

Is that what you assert? Just curious.

There is more. He was no stranger to the legal system. The guy had been convicted multiple times for armed robbery. His vacated conviction only meant that he wasn’t responsible THAT time. He was doing something that made the deputy pull him over and it wasn’t just an inoperative taillight that caused him to fight the deputy.

Most places don’t have public defender on call. The defense lawyers are all required to take turns as public defenders.

But will the crAP report his toxicology report? Never. It took until the trial to get our hands on Big Gorge's full, loaded-to-the-gills badoink badoink toxicology report.

Exactly. The point of the AP is to push the leftist agenda, truth and reality be d*amned!

he failed to obey commands

This is the common thread in 99% of these shootings by cops. Seems like an easy solution.

>> The cops were probably pissed off that his conviction had been overturned and had him on a watch list.

Are you serious? Or is that sarcasm?

Yea, me too. Police in the U.S are the best in the world. They are thoroughly proffesional, polite, and earnest in their efforts to protect peope. Even those morons who hold them in contempt and aren’t a tenth of a man (or or woman.) Those who couldn’t in a million years do what they do, are protected by these honorable people.

For those that slip by selection and training they are a burdon carried by other officers until such incompetency or misbehavior gets them fired. They have no friends among fellow officers.

If they do something against policy or commit an illegal act there is an internal affairs investigation. For many instances they are investigated by a different agency so as to avoid corruption or appearance of corruption. The district attorney”s office may investigate or be involved in the investigation. Then there are state level investigations, and possible Justice Department involvement.

So it rocks when a fellow Freeper supports those who work so hard to keep society safe and law abiding. I salute you sir! And I thank you for allowing this explation to those who really haven’t thought clearly on the topic

He was shot for spending 16 years in prison after wrongful conviction? Seems odd. That or another “journalist” proves once again he is the least qualified person to do his job.

A lot of “innocent” convicts are freed on technicalities.

True. Many times the perp who is arrested is already known to the PD for other illegal activities.

What percentage of cops are convicted and sentenced to prison for the horrible offenses they do from killings to thefts, to corruption and criminal abuse of Americans, and what percentage of those caught are caught and turned in by cameras and victims, versus the cop or cops standing right next to him?

If I were locked up wrongly for 16 years, and got an $800K settlement, I would buy a small acreage far from city cops and criminal activity. Invite friends and family to visit. Hire someone to mow/shovel as needed. Breathe free air. Maybe find a nice (not necessarily stunning woman) to marry if not married already, letting her know what my pain points were, and when to let me be.

Well said. For more cops are murdered each year than unarmed black folks are killed by police. In 2019, 54 cops were killed, and just 2 unarmed black men were killed unjustifiably (they weren’t trying to murder the cop... 19 black folks did try to murder cops during fights with the cops and were shot and killed as a result, but those were justifiable shootings)

It is a lie that there is “systemic racism” in the police force- the stats on unjustified killings proves that out- proves that cops go to extraordinary lengths to to prevent deaths compared to thugs shooting cops. Out of millions and millions of arrests across the nation, it is amazing that only 2 were killed unjustifiably and the cops were convicted in both cases. Millions of arrests of very violent, very drugged out perps, and almost all arrests end up with noone getting shot. The few that do are nothing compared to how many don’t.

[[Pretty sure that can mean all kinds of things...like getting off on a “technicality”.]]

The problemmis though that most people who hate cops will think the man was wrongfully convicted, and won’t accept any other explanation.

Some of it is the Al Capone approach to criminal justice. They know he did this other thing, but can’t prove it. But they can get the goods on him for this, sorta, though they’re kinda skirting a couple of rules. So what the hey. Then, after ten years in prison, an idealistic young lawyer notices they failed to cross a “t” or dot an “i”, and suddenly this reformed convict is pure as the driven snow, as innocent as a newborn lamb.

Indeed his bonus round was Cure began assaulting the deputy.

Finds out he’s NOT special after all.

According to the article, he already had several prior convictions, thus the reason he had been sentences to life in prison on the charge that was later dropped and the sentence vacated. It is sad that his life turned out the way it did. But... He was no angel even before he was wrongfully imprisoned. Bad life styles have a way of catching up with you.

Yes, resisting arrest leads to bad results.
