Natalee Holloway was beaten to death on a beach in Aruba and her body pushed out to sea after refusing the advances of the chief suspect in the 2005 killing, who admitted to the murder before pleading guilty Wednesday to extorting money from the missing teen's mother.
Although Joran van der Sloot isn't charged in Holloway's death, his confession may finally resolve a case that has captivated the public's attention for nearly two decades, spawning extensive news coverage, books, movies and podcasts.
"As far as I'm concerned, it's over," Beth Holloway, Natalee's mother, told reporters outside the federal courthouse in Alabama. "Joran van der Sloot is no longer the suspect in my daughter's murder. He is the killer."
In an interview conducted by his attorney, he says he and Holloway were lying on the beach kissing. She started to resist, but he kept touching her, so she kneed him between the legs. He stood up and kicked her "extremely hard" in the face while she was still lying down.
At that point, he said, she was "unconscious, possibly even uh, even dead, but definitely unconscious." He said he picked up a nearby cinderblock and brought it down on her face.
Frightened and unsure what to do, he said he dragged her body until he was knee-deep in the waves, then pushed her out to sea.

I lack personal knowledge in such matters, but I think this is not an effective way to make a body disappear.
It would have been smarter to rent a row boat and go far from the shore to dump the body.
His father kept bailing him out.
Concurrent sentences is just a way of saying, “No time needs to be served.”
I really, really, really mean it this time! I mean, like really.
Her body was never found. Two reasons: Either Van der Sloot lied again about what happened, or it was an effective way to make a body disappear.
He got a taste for killing. Five years later he would murder another young woman in Peru.
I believe he was the killer, but I wouldn’t believe one single word he says about it.
Urine.
No statute of limitations on murder, Urine.
Those are only the ones we know of.
Only he knows how many others there have been. Probably quite a few.
SPJNK.
Current and waves would likely wash body back ashore, unless shark got it and dragged it out to sea.
I was thinking sharks. There would be blood in the water, so they’d have easily found the body.
That’s a real good theory.
Otherwise they would have found the body, it woul have ridden the surf back in somewhere. Bodies don’t sink. They rise and float. Its why they are weighted down in water in bags including rocks or concrete, heavy stuff.
” he picked up a nearby cinderblock “
There is your weight !!!
I still believe he sold her to human (sex) traffickers.
If someone incarcerated were to off this bastard with a shiv, I’d argue for a reduced sentence for providing justice for the family.
