Jacksonville, Florida, Mayor Donna Deegan (D) is facing questions after she awarded a no-bid contract worth $300,000 to a firm whose president not only donated to her campaign, but hosted an event for her at his home this year.
The Democrat mayor’s deal was exposed in a Wednesday Florida Times-Union report, revealing that the city’s Professional Services Evaluation Committee recommended Deegan approve a year-long contract with Langton Consulting without seeking proposals from any other firms, despite the city typically requiring “competitive bidding.”

I often wonder why there is near zero accountability in government.
The city comptroller was able to steal $37,000 per day for 20 years.

Just the S.O.P of politics, especially of the Left variety.
Living in Jacksonville, she’s been around the local scene for years, running for US Congress twice and getting trounced each time.
To her credit she ran a good campaign for mayor, the Republican field ripped each other apart in the primary and blew any chance they had to win.
Donna Deegan is not a good person, in fact you could say she’s a terrible person.
She was a local news anchor, she ended up marrying the sportscaster on the same station named Dan Hicken, she then was known as Donna Hicken.
While married to the sportscaster, she began an affair with the weatherman named Tim Deegan.
She was caught one time having sex with the weatherman between broadcasts in the parking lot of the TV station.
She divorced the sportscaster and married the weatherman and eventually changed her name to Donna Deegan.
She gave up her kids in the divorce.
She has survived breast cancer 3 times and started a charitable foundation while recovering only to be removed for nonperformance, she didn’t want to raise money, she only wanted her name on the charity.
The stories about her and her husband are fairly well known for being deadbeats.
Isn’t that why companies like Langton Consulting contribute big bucks to political campaigns? Isn’t this why office seekers seek “campaign contributions”?
It so much harder harder to ‘contribute’ to a sitting office holder.
I still think politicians should be required to wear shirts that advertise their contributors. Similar to racing drivers. These shirts should be required at ALL public events.
