I was in high school and college for the ‘69 and ‘73 wars. But I recall Iran was a pipsqueak back then, Hamas, PLO and Hezbollah were were new and rather ineffectual, and the Israeli’s had not become affluent and complacent.
So, yes, these times are a LOT different.
The problem country in 69 was Eqypt which had the evil Iran does today. Maybe not the toys, but the intent to destroy Israel. In 73 it was Eqypt and Syria. Again, same intent. The PLO during that time while young was dangerous as a terrorist entity.
