Beshear has really been hanging his hat on this battery plant as a campaign platform and getting grants to set up EV charging stations. The farce that this is is now becoming unraveled...but doubtful the press will spend any significant time calling Beshear out for this when the signs were clear for some time.

The viability of EVs in the long term has probably actually been hindered by all of these subsidies vs. allowing the market and technology to develop to become more efficient and reach economies of scale. The subsidies are pushing junk out onto the market.

The construction on the first phase is pretty far along. The thing is MASSIVE.

Right now you might invest in EV manufacturing with cash you don’t mind losing. Demand is flat and likely to succumb to market forces.

Can you say Toxic Heavy Metal Salts? That’s what these batteries are made from. And, that is what will end up contaminating this future superfund sight.
