Engineers develop an efficient process to make fuel from carbon dioxide

researchers at MIT and Harvard University have developed an efficient process that can convert carbon dioxide into formate, a liquid or solid material that can be used like hydrogen or methanol to power a fuel cell and generate electricity.

...However, the researchers expect it to be scalable so that it could provide emissions-free heat and power to individual homes and even be used in industrial or grid-scale applications.

These crystals have an indefinite shelf life, remaining so stable that they could be stored for years, or even decades, with little or no loss. By comparison, even the best available practical hydrogen storage tanks allow the gas to leak out at a rate of about 1 percent per day, precluding any uses that would require year-long storage, Li says.

Only needs massive government funding.

I worked on methanol fuel cells. Basically useless anywhere cold or too hot.

—”The greenweenies want to pull CO2 out of the atmosphere and pump it under ground.”

Some of the nuttier nuts are working that process!!!

The rest can get all the CO2 they can use, from CCS linked to industrial processes.

"Thermodynamic reality defied!"

Entropy rules thermodynamics. Yes, they can store energy in this manner. You much decrease the entropy of this system to extract energy. The only way to do this is inject energy into the system via heat and or electricity or perhaps unicorn farts.

ENTROPY RULES! The rules of thermodynamics can not be broken. Any chemist knows this.

A good start, but probably best to flesh out your grant application.

First you have to trap very significant amounts of the CO2, which I understand is not an inexpensive operation.
